Sighing, I set my bag down on the porch. Why did dad have to die? Why did he do this to me? I took my time making it inside with my duffle. This was it, my new home. Somehow, my mom had found a new husband in less than a year of my dad dying. I was not too fond of my new step-dad, James, either. There was something off about him that I could not place. He was extremely pale, had jet black hair, and had a serious look at all times, and somehow my mom loved him. But, he was at least letting me stay under his own roof so I cannot complain. My brown hair got slightly in my eyes as I walked up the stars. I did not even bother to say hi to my mom or James. The bag I was carrying dragged behind me. Walking into my room, I slammed the door behind me. I sighed and stared up at the ceiling. Tomorrow I start my new high school, which twisted my stomach. As the sign said, Welcome to Beacon Hills.
The room James gave me was actually quite big compared to my old one back in Indiana. My bed was in the corner of the room, next to the window. I had a makeup bureau right next to my walk in closet and a night stand next to my bed. The room was painted turquoise blue and my mom had hung up fairy lights all around the corners of the walls. Plus, I was allowed to purchased the abstract triangle bedspread I wanted from PB Teen. I finally had the perfect room, but why didn't it feel like I was home?
I picked up my duffle, dumping its contents onto my bed. I had a few tops, some jeans, some shorts, a couple skirts, and three dresses. Not a lot, but it was still a decent amount. Becoming distracted, I grabbed my backpack and started organizing everything. I was in all AP classes, except for math, which was extremely rare for a freshman. I even had a class with all sophomores for Biology. Putting the four binders in my bag, I remembered I needed my other binder for flute. It was a shimmery silver, and it has all my music in it. I shoved it in my bag, along with a romance novel I was reading. Although I always got made fun of for these sorts of books at my old school, I pushed that thought to the back of my head. Maybe I will actually make friends here, ones that don't make me sit alone during class. I sat there thinking about it for a few more minutes before deciding I really needed to pick out my outfit.
After forty-five minutes of debating with myself, I finally decided what to wear. At first I was considering a floral dress and army jacket, but became against it. For living in California, it got surprisingly cold at the end of September. Instead, I settled on a baggy, off white sweater; high waisted skinny jeans; and combat boots. It seemed simple enough and actually cute. This outfit had Amber Coeher written all over it. I smiled, because for once I would actually look good on the first day of school (even though I was starting late). I lay my clothes on the chair next to my makeup bureau, and my backpack on the back of it.
Realizing it was eleven; I threw my pajamas on and hopped into bed, setting my alarm for six thirty. I turned off the light and pulled up the sheets. Hopefully tomorrow will go as smoothly as I imagine.
