My alarm went off, waking me up. I groggily opened my eyes and realized that it was my first day of high school in Beacon Hills. Slowly, I make my way over to my bureau. I throw on my sweater, followed by my jeans, then socks, and finally combat boots. Looking in the mirror, I sigh with aggravation. The bags under my eyes were darker than usual, most likely the result of less than eight hours of sleep. I sit down and get started on my hair and makeup.
By the time I was finished, I actually looked pretty good. My blue eyes stood out, because I had only used black eyeliner and mascara. And my hair, well, was perfect! I had lightly used a curling wand on it and flipped it to one side. Grabbing my backpack, I ran down stairs to the kitchen. Once I was downstairs, I realized that all the curtains and blinds were drawn shut. The only ray of light came from the light right above the kitchen sink.
"What the heck?" I questioned myself.
Turning around, I noticed James wide awake, sitting on the couch, with his laptop flipped open. He was furiously typing with his face scrunched up. Suddenly, his head jerked and he looked straight at me.
"Is there something I can help you with, Miss. Amber?" he rudely asks.
"No. Sorry James." I mumble.
"That's Mr. Bampira to you." He hissed.
My eyes widen when he says this, but I just turn around grab some cereal. What is wrong with James? He was not THAT rude last night. I push the thoughts to the back of my head and continued to get my breakfast. As soon as I finished eating, I jetted out the door, not wanting to deal with James any longer. The bus stop was placed at the end of the street so I ran, not wanting to miss the bus on the first day.
I waited a total of five minutes and sixteen seconds before the bus finally came. Not wanting to draw attention to myself, I took the only empty seat in the middle of the bus. The seat was in front of two boys who appeared to be sophomores. One had short, curly black hair; brown eyes; chocolate colored skin; and a friendly expression. The other had slightly spiked, brown hair; pale skin; full, pink lips; and eyes that were as bright blue as mine. He looked up at me and my heart skipped a beat. I quickly sat down and got out my phone.
"Dude," I heard the brown eyed one say behind me.
"What?" the other one growled.
"Your claws" The first one whispered.
I felt my eyebrows scrunch together. Why would he have claws? The thought still swam around in my head as I popped my earbuds in and enjoyed the rest of the ride there.
When the bus stopped, I quickly stood up, wanting to get off. Everyone left the bus in an orderly fashion, which took me by surprise. As I was on the last step, I tripped and fell forward, almost hitting the concrete. Almost. Before I had time to make contact with the ground, two hands wrapped around my waist, preventing me from falling. Heat rushed to my face and I had a pretty good feeling of who it is. The person gets off the bus with their hands still around my waist. Once we were both standing on solid ground, I turn around to look them in the face. I felt the air in my throat hitch when I looked at him. He looked even better at second glance.
"Thanks for catching me," I said shyly. Great job at staying unnoticed Amber.
"No problem. I'm Liam by the way" He smiles, holding out his hand.
"Amber" I grin back, shaking his hand.
"Well, I have to go get my schedule. See ya!" I babble, quickly turning and walking into the school.
What the heck was that? First, I try to stay invisible, which does not work, and then I'm rude to the first person who tries to be nice to me. God, what was wrong with me! I made my way to the office and waited to get my schedule. I was in for one heck of a day.
