The Life And Times Of Rachel Grape

The Grape women were up early.  The coffee was made and they were off in Elise's car.   There were women lined up around the store ready to get their artisan goods.  Rachel would be running.  Rachel could not wait to see her friend, Lauren.   They were going to a nearby town and get pizza.   You could not even get pizza in Endora.  They got in, talked for a few minutes and then unlocked the door.   The women rushed in and it was crazy.  Rachel was running around the entire morning., Elise was proud of her with so much going on.  Even Elise 's mother helped at the store.  She was proud of her girl.   When she was Rachel's age, she worried that her daughter would even live to be in her forties.  Gilbert stopped by with lunch.   Gilbert was a good husband.  He was a good dad and he saw a truck he did not like.  He quietly walked down the street and said, "It is best you leave, son."  He would never tell Rachel what had happened.   Elise's mom adored that in him as well.  As she was stocking shelves, she accidentally bumped Ariana.  "Sorry," she said.   She looked at her.   "Oh.... Hi,". Rachel said.   "Sorry you had to leave school.  I got kicked out of the sorority," she said.  Rachel said she was sorry and she said, "I am really sorry about your boyfriend."  She said, "Yeah.  Me, too."  Little did he know that he was being shooed away by her dad.

    Westin got to sleep in.  His mom was manic and fixed him a big breakfast.  It was too big. , He was regretting his life.  He had intercourse with her.  He felt so dirty.  She wanted it.  She just laid there.  He loved Rachel.  She was so receptive.   He felt rotten.  He wanted her.  He needed here and he was going to tell her. 

    "Good morning, son," she said.  "Did you have a nice Thanksgiving with Rebekah's family,"
"It was a rootin' tootin' good time," he said. He was sarcastic. He could not stand Rebekah's family. They were chirpy bulldozers. 
"Good. Gland to hear."
"She sure is religious."
"Yeah. Those Grapes were not. You know that her mom hung out with soothsayers."
"I did not."  He did it csr
"You don't want that."
"Mom, I liked her."
"In time the pain will be gone and you will be okay."
"Mom, I loved her! I fucking loved her!"  He pounded the table. 
"In time you will see."
"Fuck you, mom." He ran up to his room.

She began to cry.

He wanted to go see Rachel. However, he didn't want to let his mom down.   So, he went to see Gavin and took his frustrations out on the range. He could not stand his mother or Rebekah or her family.   He talked about his night with her.

"Yeah, I got laid last night," he told his best friend. "It sucked, and I didn't use anything. God, I hope she is not pregnant."
"Dude."
"Mom would,love for me to marry her. Perfect Rebekah. I love Rachel."
"Then go see her."
"It isn't that easy. I hurt that girl. She cussed me out.  Her dad cussed me out."
"And rightfully so."
"I know."

Rebekah woke up sore. They didn't use anything. "If, I am we can get tried quickly and I can be married to the best guy." It was exactly day fourteen. "I can be a wife and mommy." That was what she wanted. Westin was good lover. That was what she was trained to be.  To be a wife in the house with a white picket fence and a golden retriever.  

Westin got in the car and drove back home, but he took two hours out of his way to go to Endora. He wanted to walk up to that shop and tell her that he wanted her for all,time and they were running away. However, he saw the beat up truck pull up and her dad's angry face.  He walked over and told him to "move along".   He went home, called her and said he would be "a little late". He took a shower and got ready for a night with Rebekah. Rachel was exhausted. She didn't go to sleep. She and Lauren went to the city and got a pizza. An hour before, Westin and Rebekah sat at the same table the happy couple sat at just prior to them. He wanted to see Rachel.  That was never going to happen and his life was going to take a turn.  

   She and Lauren talked about school.  
      "Once the baby comes, I will go part time,"  
"You have this so planned out.  I am proud of you," Lauren said.  
"Thanks.  And to think I wanted to live my life with that creep.  He has a girlfriend.  She looks like Reese Witherspoon.  Rebekah."
"Awww...". 

    The whole night, they were three steps behind them.  He went back home and had sex with Rebekah, wishing it were Rachel.   Rachel wished he would drop off the face of the earth....
