EMILIA
She stared at the door through which Alex had just exited, trying to process all the information he had shared with her. "So, what exactly were you two talking about?" she heard her honorary father's voice ask. "As he mentioned, we were just asking each other questions. We discussed his family and the royal selection before you came in."
"How about I help you pick your next question?" Puck suggested with a cheerful smile.
"That sounds fantastic! Thank you so much!" she responded happily.
"But I think we should steer clear of asking him more about his family. He seemed really torn when he talked about his brothers," she added with a touch of concern.
The cat spirit gazed at her and nodded thoughtfully. "You're probably right. How about we ask him about that sword of his? In my five hundred years of experience, I've never encountered anything like it. Its power is quite intriguing," he concluded, a hint of eagerness in his tone..
Emilia took a moment to think before nodding. "I agree, but only if he feels comfortable with it. Now, let's consider how we can create a suitable platform for the throne." Puck looked at her, still a bit confused. "Could you clarify what you mean, Lia?"
"Alex was right. Simply telling people that I want to unfreeze the other elves won't be sufficient to secure the throne. We need to offer them a compelling reason to vote for me," she said, her voice barely above a whisper as the weight of her thoughts hung in the air.
"Hmmm, you're absolutely correct. Let's brainstorm some ideas together," he replied, his mind already racing with possibilities. They leaned closer, eager to come up with a strategy that would resonate with the kingdom's citizens.
She smiled at the spirit and nodded."Yes, let us do that."
Emilia paused, deep in thought, until a realization sparked in her mind: Equality. She envisioned a future where humans and demihumans would finally coexist harmoniously. Although the demihuman population isn't suffering as severely as they did during the war, remnants of outdated laws still linger. The state of the slums, too, loomed large in her thoughts. She felt a growing sense of urgency as she contemplated the changes that could unfold, igniting hope for a time when true equality might prevail....
The thought frustrated her deeply—how no noble had stepped forward to help. She felt compelled to take action, even if it meant risking her claim to the throne. It was likely that many nobles would be hesitant to support her because of her 'Half devil' heritage, but she believed in making a difference regardless of the obstacles.
But that's irrelevant at the moment. She can't truly call herself the queen if she's unwilling to take any action to help.
Emilia was brought out of her thoughts when she heard the door opening. Looking up she noticed her first friend entering the room.
"Sorry for taking a bit longer! I just stepped outside to grab some fresh air before lunch," Alex said as he plopped down in his seat.
"It's absolutely no problem! Lunch will be ready soon, so why not keep playing our game in the meantime?" she smiled at the young knight. "Sounds great! I believe it's your turn, right?"
"Yes indeed, then for my second question, could you tell me about your sword?"
Alex stared at her in shock for a moment. 'She wants to know about Excalibur? That's just great. How the hell do I explain that?' he thought to himself before deciding to just tell the truth... well, most of it.
"To explain that, I need to share its history. First and foremost, there was a prophecy concerning Excalibur: "He who can remove the sword from the stone shall become king." He paused for dramatic effect. "Hundreds of men attempted to pull it out, but all failed—until Arthur Pendragon came along. He successfully removed the sword and eventually became king."
