I was still limping, unable to get to my feet. Before I could enter the house, Kayla spoke to me.

"I know about your relationship with Dr. Kingstin, so I can understand his attitude today."

I wanted to know what she meant. Even though I somehow understood what she was saying.

"What do you mean?" I said, leaning against the door frame, hesitating to open the door.

"Aria, Dr. Kingstin is crazy about you. I can see it in his eyes."

I wanted to know what had really happened today. What happened while I was in the infirmary? What did Dr. Kingstin do to make Kayla say that? On the other hand, I needed to rest my leg, get ready for tomorrow's class, turn in my assignments, and get some rest myself.

"Kayla, my feet hurt so bad. I need to go inside and rest, but I'm not finished with this story. Let's continue tomorrow during recess. Okay?" I said.

Kayla seemed to understand how much I needed the rest and agreed to continue tomorrow.

"Make sure you rest that leg," she said. I went to get my dorm room keys out of my bag and headed back to my car.

"Thank you so much for today. I really appreciate it," I said as she jumped into the driver's seat.

"You're welcome. What are friends for?" She replied as she drove off into the night.

I picked up my keys and unlocked the front door to find Jane already waiting for me at the door.

"You're finally here," she said, looking at her phone.

"I can't tell you how worried I was ......" She noticed my legs and stopped.

Jane rushed to my side and helped balance myself.

"Jane, don't worry," I said. "The swelling has gone down and the pain is gone." I tried to soothe her, but she was having none of it. Jane took me upstairs to my bedroom and made sure I was sitting there.

"Don't move from here," she demanded and I complied. Jane immediately went to Katie's room to let her know what had happened. That's why Jane was our dorm mom.

"Please, can you tell 'Mom' to stop worrying about this leg? It's already healed." I said to an anxious Katie. She looked at the bandage on my leg and gasped. I began to explain to Katie.

"Before you panic Katie, I promise you," I said. But before I could finish, Katie started to cry and told Jane to hurry up. Please, guys, ...... I'm not going to die. Oh my god.

Jane came back with a tray and said, "Here are painkillers, a bowl of soup, and some fruit. Rest your leg." Then she placed the portable table on my bed.

I got up to at least take a quick shower and change my clothes, but my roommate stopped me and isolated me to my bed to avoid straining my leg. Tomorrow is Wednesday and we both have classes in the morning so we have to go to bed early. I have to admit, I love them both.

"Jane, thank you so much." I reassured her.

"Don't forget the most important part. Your fruit." Jane reiterated. "Katie, let's go to our rooms. Aria needs to rest."

"Yes, she needs to rest." Katie restated.

Katie got up from the floor, wiped away her tears, and kissed me on the cheek.

"Don't die for us, woman," she said and sulked toward her room.

"Rest your leg, just like the nurse said. Your leg will be better tomorrow." Jane said on her way out.
