Recess period
Kayla and I strolled silently to the cafeteria to see what we could buy to keep ourselves alive until the following lecture, which would be a lab, before the day ended. We certainly need to clear some things from the dense air around us.
Kayla purchased fries and a sandwich, while I ordered a large bowl of chicken salad and a diet soda. We took our trays and sat in the corner, eating quietly until I decided to be the bigger person and speak out first.
"How long Kayla? How long?"
She looked at me with a sober expression almost to the point of tears.
"Its been like a couple of weeks now." She responded and I sighed.
"It's been a few weeks, and you haven't told me? You know what Jake did to you, so why did you keep going back to him? You and I both know what I went through to get you back to your happy, single self today. What made you think of going back to him?."
By this time Kayla was in tears and I decided to stop pressuring her.
"He promised me he wouldn't go back to his old ways. HE PROMISED ME!" She said and broke down in tears completely.
I got up from my seat to comfort her as I wrapped my arms around her in a reassuring hug.
"Don't cry Kayla, it's okay. I know that you are not going back to your vomit." I said as I grabbed her shoulders and forced her to look at me.
"Kalya, This day, I forbid you from returning to that man. You're far too beautiful and talented to be following that good-for-nothing dude. A decent man is out there, waiting for you. A man who will treat you as you deserve, and I believe I know who he is. I adore you very much."
She quietly calmed down "Thank you so much Aria. I love you too." She said as I returned to my seat.
"Now about my own love life. Let's finish eating then on our way to the lab we can talk about me." I said.
"Okay." Kayla gave a weak but reassuring smile as we finished our lunch in peace and quietness.
I got a text from Jane.
"Hey girl, how are you? Just checking on my leg. How is it?"
"Awww. 'MOM' you didn't have to. It's much better" I responded.
"Don't stress it too much. Okay?"
"Yes mom!" I replied and put my phone back into my bag.
"Dr. Kingstin is in love with you Aria." Kayla started.
"As much as I hate to say it. If I didn't know before, now I know" I replied as I reached into my bag to get the letter he wrote to me. Only Kayla was allowed to read this.
Kayla read it again and again not believing what was in her hands.
"This is definitely his handwriting because it looks exactly like this on my assignments. Girl, you are one lucky woman."
"Mhm, that is enough young lady." I collected the letter from her and neatly kept it in my bag.
Kayla turned with suspicious looks in her eyes.
"You're gonna keep that letter forever and ever right?" She said,
"Girl, you know it!" I replied as I held the lab door for her to enter.
She turned to look at me and asked
"Sleepover at my place tomorrow?"
"Hell yeah! Can't wait to pack my bag for this. We will come to school together right?"
