Isla was almost done preparing for school, curling her hair in the bathroom. "Ouch!" she shouted, wincing in pain.

The curling iron clattered to the floor as she sucked her burned thumb.
"Oh... fuck!" She winced, shaking her hands to reduce the pain.

She got up to pack the books into her bag for school.

As she packed, her heart began to race. Sweat beads gathered on her face, dripping into her clothes.

She wiped the sweat off her face, "What is wrong with me?" she asked herself, her eyes whitening from the dizziness she felt within.

Her vision blurred, and the room started spinning. She sat down lazily, yawning as she laid on her bed tired.

Her eyes slowly shutting out the light.

....

All of a sudden, she shot up, her eyes darting around, almost breathless.

Darkness had consumed it all.

"No! No! No!" She stared at her trembling hands.

"What is happening to me?!" Her voice laced with fear.

Her hair wet from the sweat now latched into her skin.

Suddenly, cold winds shot through the door sending shivers down her spine.

She went to close it and realized that something was not right. The streets were empty!

How was this possible? She lived on one of Boston's busiest streets.

Isla walked onto the streets; there were no signs of life. No cars, no people, the shops were closed, and houses looked abandoned.

A chill coursed through her veins. 'Hello?" she called out, voice trembling.

The silence was deafening.

"Kaius, Dax?" She called out, fear visible in her eyes.
"Where am I?"

She searched herself for her phone to at least call someone but it was nowhere to be found.

An unknown voice echoed in the vast abyss. "Time is the only concept with a mind of its own."

A figure drew from the shadows, isla exhaled deeply, ready to take to her heels.

The figure became a teenage boy; familiar but unplaceable.

He got closer, and Isla saw his student ID from Lincoln High. "Ethan.." she read.

Ethan came from the shadows, whistling and singing along to the songs playing in his head phones.
As if unaware of his surroundings.

He walked past Isla as if she wasn't there, then halted.

A growl sounded from the shadows. The voice spoke, "It waits for no man."

Isla turned slowly, her very being shaking to its core.

What was before her was like something taken out of a nightmare.

"Shit?!" Ethan exclaimed, his heart racing like never before.
He retracted his steps carefully and took to his heels.

The creature let out a menacing growl, and followed, its grotesque form twisting with each sprint.

Isla followed, yelling, "Ethan, run!"

Ethan burst onto Main Street, his heart racing as he desperately evaded the monster's snapping tentacles.
