The concept of a soulmate had always baffled me. To say we all have our one perfect person, someone who feels like a puzzle piece that you were always missing, just slotting into your life one day... It honestly sounded like something only written about in romantic novels.
When I met Charlie, I never expected him to be that person for me. It happened slowly, and then all at once. I considered him my best friend, I could be my true, authentic self with him, and then I understood what it meant to find my puzzle piece.

I've come to realise that the perfect love story doesn't exist, falling and being in love isn't perfect. It always involves some level of heartache, even if it isn't intentional. Falling for someone is involuntary, but loving someone in the way they deserve is a choice.
You have to choose to show up for them, choose to show them that they're worthy of being loved. You have to make sacrifices, push yourself out of your comfort zone and take risks. This may not be the perfect love story, but it's mine and Nick's, so it's perfect to us.
