When Charlie had calmed down enough, I took him back to the group. As we walked over to the table, Tao Elle and Isaac looked at him sympathetically. I hoped Charlie realised how loved he actually was, not just by me, but also by the amazing friends he had.

"I'm so sorry Tao." Charlie slurred, leaning against me.
"Me too." Tao said, standing up and hugging him.
"I'm gonna take him home." I said, putting my hand on his waist to steady him when Tao let go.
"I think that's a good idea." Elle giggled softly.
"I'm just gonna finish this." Charlie said, reaching for his drink.
"No you're not." I chuckled, pulling him back.
"Ohh!" He giggled.
"We'll see you again before you go back to London." Isaac said, standing up and hugging him.
"Good luck." Imogen giggled, also standing and hugging me, then Charlie.
"See you both soon." Lucy said.
"Bye Charlie." Elle said, hugging him.

We left the bar, I got him into a taxi and he slumped against me, resting his head on my shoulder. He didn't say another word, and by the time we got back to my mum's, he was on the verge of passing out.

He was limp, and struggling to walk so I scooped him up and carried him upstairs. I was pretty drunk too, but still coherent enough to look after him.

He flopped onto the bed, I undressed him down to his boxers and got him under the covers. After undressing myself, I climbed into bed next to him, and he snuggled up to me.

"I love you." I whispered, but he didn't respond. He was already fast asleep, with his arm over me and his head on my chest. I kissed his forehead, then I too drifted off to sleep.

Charlie

I woke up to the morning sun pouring into Nick's bedroom. He was still asleep, cuddling me with both arms. I didn't even remember getting back, the last thing I could recall was shouting at Tao and I felt so guilty.

Nick stirred, and cuddled me tighter. I tilted my head up to look at me, he opened his eyes and smiled affectionately.
"You okay?" He asked softly.
"My head hurts." I said quietly.
"I'm not surprised." He chuckled, kissing my forehead.
"Why was I shouting at Tao? Are we okay? I'm such a dickhead." I mumbled, nuzzling into him.
"You and Tao are fine, you both apologised." He said softly, stroking my arm with his fingers.
"What happened?"
"Uhm, something about Tao asking you why you haven't told me you love me."
"Oh." I said quietly.

He held my chin with his fingers, and kissed me softly. My heart fluttered, and I smiled as he gently rubbed the tip of his nose on mine.
"Char... Do you remember what you said to me?" He almost whispered.
"Was I horrible to you too?" I asked in a panic.
"No, nothing like that." He chuckled.
"What did I say?"
"It doesn't matter." He whispered, kissing my nose.
"Nick, what did I say to you?" I asked urgently, propping myself up on my elbow.
"Uhm... I was talking to you about what happened with Tao, and you told me you love me." He said gently.
"I did? I actually said it?" I asked, my eyes going wide.
"I don't think you realised you did... You said, I love you so much I just can't say it." He said, then exhaled a soft laugh.
"Oh god, I'm so sorry." I groaned, dropping my head on his shoulder.
"It's okay." He chuckled, wrapping his arms around me.
"No, it's really not. You deserve for me to say it properly." I mumbled.
"Charlie, I promise you it's okay." He said softly.

I brought my head up, and placed my hand on his chest over his heart. The heart that was so full of love, and kindness. I wanted to say it, I had come so close to saying it so many times, I knew I could do it.

"Nick..." I whispered, and took a deep breath.
"Char, it really doesn't matter." He said softly.
"I love you." I said, looking into his eyes and a massive smile broke out across my face.
