He Speaks

Logan (POV)

After helping the stranger to his new room, his arm dressed, his body in warm clothes, hair a dripping mess and food in his belly. The man seemed in a much better mood, sure he didn't smile or talk but his smell wasn't as scared...and the stench was gone which helped around this place.

I made sure he had blankets, pillows and some water. Letting him settle into his bed, he seemed confused at first but crawled under the blankets without an inch of his body sticking out. Even his head was hidden, like a lost cat of some sorts.

Quietly closing the door, Scott and Storm were waiting outside the room with crossed arms and emotional frowns.

''Professor wants to speak with you when he gets back, he had to meet up with Erik somewhere. Said it was important but he'll be alright, he took Jean with him.''

There was more, they were hiding something but before I could ask, Scott pushed on.

''They um....found Toad, you know...One of Erik's main guys without a tongue, eyes, and his limbs torn to shreds. And yet again, no trace of anybody.''

My stomach dropped, I actually fought that fucker before and he was a sneaky little slime ball.

''What...where at?''

Storm cleared her throat, waiting for Scott to continue as well.

''He was out in the city picking up some seafood from one of those small restaurants that we've been to once. The one with the big fish wearing an apron, you know...that one. He had bought what he wanted and was heading back, they found his limbs in a pond and the rest of him at the friendship park.''

Gulping, so this recently happened.

''A few kids found him, this happened about 30 minutes ago. Professor couldn't wait, him and Jean were in a hurry and rushed out without announcing to anybody else of what was going on.''

I can't believe this, this literally just happened not that long ago and we missed it?

''Nobody seen anything? Nothing at all?'' I said angrily

Scott put his hand over my shoulder, a soothing technique that always worked on me.

''No, when the cops questioned the parents of the kids. They had just gotten to the park, nobody was there until after.''

I punched the wall behind me, watching the wood fall through as the frustration started to rise.

''How the fuck did anybody not see anything?! Come on! Not even him getting attacked in the first place?!''

Anger flowed through me like a river.

''They don't attack until they're sure those who they're attacking aren't around anybody else, they must've got him when he was passing the alley down the street. The place is dark and nobody goes there, not even the homeless.''

We turned our attention to the nameless as he spoke, his voice raspy from the lack of water he was supposed to be drinking.

''I can't remember much, but I do remember being locked away inside a concrete building. Being experimented on, there was a man. He was large, had this look on his face as if even never smiled before. I'm trying to remember the details of this man but I'm sorry...I'm so sorry I can't. They strapped me to a chair, it was so cold. But they would do things to me, the pain they put inside my head. I don't remember ever being let free, they would make me fight other hero's. Test my strength...''
