You and JJ hid just outside the hall's entrance, adrenaline still coursing through your veins as you waited for the crew to start trickling in. You could feel your heart racing. "Psst, how many?" JJ whispered, glancing sideways at you, his brow furrowed in concentration. You held up three fingers, signaling that three more people were entering. "Six people for now," he confirmed, his eyes darting around as if he was expecting danger.
As the door creaked open, you spotted Rose, Wheezie, and Rafe stepping inside. A chill ran down your spine at the sight of Rafe. You turned to JJ, voice low and urgent. "He didn't go in. He's checking on the cross." you told him. The crew continued to filter in, laughter and chatter echoing around you, but you felt a large amount of anxiety. "That's all of them," you said to JJ, glancing over the crowd. "Except Ward. We need Ward," he insisted, urgency in his voice.
"We can't wait, JJ," you replied, feeling the weight of the moment. Time was running out, and every second counted. With a determined nod, JJ motioned for you to help him lock the door. You pushed with all your strength while he fumbled with the rusty lock. "Close it!" he shouted, panic rising as the crew members pressed against the door, their collective weight threatening to force it open. "Come on, Jayj!" you urged, with desperation. Just as it felt like everything would break free, you heard the satisfying click of the lock. JJ had done it.
"Check the other door!" a crew member shouted from within, and dread washed over you. "There's another door! go, go, go!" you told JJ, your heart pounding in your chest. You both sprinted toward it, adrenaline flowing through your veins. You barely managed to lock it before anyone could escape.
"Rafe isn't in there. Neither is Ward," you said, voice tinged with anxiety as you turned to face JJ. The worry in your eyes was evident. "I know," he replied, his expression steeling. "But if it comes down to it, we'll take them." You swallowed hard, still frightened but somehow reassured by his confidence.
"Come on, let's go help Kie," he said, grabbing your hand. His grip was firm, and you liked it. As you moved through the dimly lit corridors of the ship, your heart raced with a mix of fear and anticipation.
When you spotted Kie through an open door, relief flooded over you. "In there," you pointed, urgency propelling you forward. "Hey, guys!" Kie greeted. JJ approached the cross, carefully unwrapping it, and you watched as his face broke into a grin. "Here she is," he said, the thrill of victory evident in his voice. Then he turned to you, eyes sparkling. "Surf trip?"
"Hell yeah," you replied, feeling a rush of excitement as you did the P4L handshake with Jj. It felt like a promise of adventure. Just then, the sound of locks clicking from above indicated that Pope and Cleo had succeeded in their part of the plan. Your heart was racing with excitement, praying that John B was safe too.
When the roof opened, the sight of Pope's determined face made you and JJ erupt into laughter. "Whoo!" Kie shouted, with excitement. JJ raised his hands in victory, his face lit up with pure joy. "The time when people do shit to us and we just sit back and take it is over!" Pope declared, his voice ringing with conviction.
"That's my boy!" JJ cheered, pride swelling in your chest. "Let's get this shit done!"You, JJ, and Kie quickly tied the cross to a rope as Pope climbed into the crane. "It's on, guys! We're finally doing this!" he shouted, exhaling deeply as he prepared himself. JJ and Kie worked together to attach the cross to the crane, your heart racing with exhilaration.
"Take her up, Pope," JJ commanded, his voice filled with anticipation. As Pope lifted the cross, you all gave him directions. But Pope, caught up in the excitement, moved too quickly.
"TOO FAR, POPE!" you screamed as the cross knocked into nearby crates, the clattering noise echoing like an alarm. "SORRY, MY BAD!" he hollered back, laughter mingling with the chaos.
