The next morning, you're jolted awake by Pope and Cleo shouting, "Plane! GUYS, WAKE UP! THERE'S A PLANE!" One by one, you and the others wake in shock, eyes wide at the sight above. Pope had dashed to the top of the cliff with Cleo to start a fire, hoping to catch the plane's attention. You glance at Jj, immediately sensing his distrust; he clearly didn't want to leave. As the plane drifts through the clouds, hope begins to wane. But suddenly, it turns around and starts to land. Your feeling a little sceptical since only two planes had passed in the past month—but the thought of home, of sleeping in your bed, eating real food, and finally showering, overwhelms any doubts. Jj isn't so easily convinced. As everyone rushes toward the plane, he stops you. "Y/N, I don't trust this," he insists.
"I know, Jj, but it's our only way out," you reply. "We'll be fine." You add. He sighs, "Whatever," and reluctantly follows you.
When the pilot emerges from the small, rusted plane, he grins and asks, "Well, what have we got here?"
"Uh, just some castaways," John B. replies.
"What'd y'all do, sink a boat?" the pilot jokes.
"Jumped off one, actually—her dad's," John B says. You notice Sarah's apprehension and walk over to her.
"Well, have no fear, Jimmy Portis is here," the pilot says with a grin.
"You okay, Sarah?" you ask. She shakes her head. "What if he's working for my dad?"
"Seriously? Look at him—he can barely speak," you chuckle, trying to lighten the mood. She doesn't respond but nods and walks over to John B, who's chatting with the pilot.
"Come on, y'all, welcome aboard! Is it just the seven of you?" Jimmy asks.
"Uh, yeah. Is that gonna be too heavy?" John B asks.
"Nah, well maybe, but we could always throw someone overboard, right?" the pilot laughs.
"We'll be fine," Jj mocks as he strides past you toward the plane.
"Jj, seriously?" you say, but he remains silent. You don't have time to argue; you're the last one on board, settling next to Kie at the back of the plane.
Jj and John B are deep in conversation with Jimmy Portis. "So, what are you doing all the way out here?" Jj asks.
"Trying to get a closer look at some fish, like Wahoo," Portis replies. You notice a glance exchanged between Jj and John B—you could easily tell that something is off.
Jj shifts further down the plane to speak quietly. "Wahoo don't run in September, so whoever this guy is, he ain't a fisherman."
"What if the run starts earlier here?" Pope asks.
"In the Caribbean? You sure about that?" Jj replies.
Sarah shakes her head. "No, he's working for my dad. He's probably been looking for us the whole time."
"Okay, we need to find out what's going on. look for clues. I'll distract him," Jj says.
You and the others begin to search the plane discreetly. Sarah reaches into the pocket behind Portis's seat and pulls out a picture of the Coastal Venture—the boat you all jumped from. "I knew it," she whispers.
"This isn't good," Cleo adds.
You glance out the window. "Guys, whatever it is, it's happening fast. Look!" The rest of the pogues glance outside. "That's Barbados! I've been there with Terrance," Cleo exclaims.
"Okay, there are six of us and one of him. I say we storm the cockpit," Jj suggests.
"No, Jj Who's going to fly the plane?" you respond.
