The following morning, Maya entered the office with an even firmer resolve. She wouldn’t allow Aryan’s arrogance to derail her hard work. Her colleagues seemed on edge, having witnessed the intense clash between them in the meeting the previous day. Maya could feel their sympathetic glances, but she didn’t need sympathy. She needed control.
Priya, her best friend and confidante, was already at Maya’s desk when she arrived, holding a coffee.
"You okay?" Priya asked softly, her brow furrowed with concern.
Maya exhaled sharply. "I’m fine. I just can’t believe the nerve of him—walking in here like he owns the place and trying to change everything we’ve worked on for months. It’s disrespectful."
That’s how these corporate types are," Priya said, shaking her head. "But Aryan Malhotra isn’t just any businessman. He’s known for being aggressive and taking big risks. That’s how he’s made his fortune."
"Big risks don’t always mean big rewards," Maya muttered, feeling a surge of frustration.
"True," Priya agreed, but then her expression softened. "Just… be careful, Maya. He’s powerful. You don’t want him as an enemy."
Maya’s jaw clenched. "I’m not looking for enemies. But I won’t let him bulldoze my project. He’s going to learn that I’m not someone he can push around."
That day, Maya received an email from Aryan, requesting a private meeting. She felt her pulse quicken as she read it. This was only the beginning. Aryan was going to challenge her at every turn, and Maya was ready for the fight.
