The atmosphere in the gym was heavy with dread as everyone gathered to discuss the horrific discoveries of Hifumi and Ishimaru. The bodies lay sprawled in gruesome displays, reminders of the brutality of their situation. Monokuma’s sadistic laughter echoed in their minds, a taunting reminder that they were still trapped in his twisted game.

As the investigation commenced, Naegi felt the crushing weight of despair bear down on him. He looked around, his heart racing as he searched the faces of his classmates. "Guys, where's Kuro? He should be here. We need him!"

His voice trembled, and he felt a lump rise in his throat as he took in the stony faces surrounding him. Each of them turned their gazes away, avoiding his eyes as if they were ashamed to even speak his name.

"He’s… he’s probably just hiding," Aoi suggested weakly, but her voice lacked conviction. "You know how he can be when things get rough."

"That’s not like him!" Naegi argued, panic beginning to rise in his chest. "Kuro wouldn’t just disappear. Something’s wrong!"

Byakuya scoffed, arms crossed, his expression cold and dismissive. "Focus on the investigation, Naegi. Kuro isn’t our priority right now. We have two murders to solve."

Celeste stood nearby, an unsettling calmness in her demeanor. "Indeed, we cannot waste time worrying about someone who might simply be hiding away." Her eyes flickered with something that Naegi couldn’t quite read, but it sent a shiver down his spine.

Naegi turned to Kyoko, desperate for some semblance of support. "Kyoko, you must know something. You’ve been so observant. Where do you think he is?"

Kyoko’s expression remained stoic, but for a brief moment, Naegi thought he saw a flicker of concern in her eyes. "I don’t know. We should focus on what’s in front of us. Kuro is… not important right now."

The words cut deep. Naegi felt the ache in his heart deepen. "Not important? How can you say that? Kuro is part of our group—he’s our friend!"

Naegi’s voice cracked as he fought back tears. It felt as if the world around him was slipping away, and no one else seemed to care. He wanted to scream, to shake them all until they understood just how crucial Kuro was to them.

"He’s not just some background character!" Naegi shouted, frustration boiling over. "You don’t get it! Kuro helps us stay sane! Without him… without him, we’re losing hope!"

But the others stood in silence, their eyes avoiding his. They moved further into the investigation, dissecting evidence and theories as if Kuro’s absence was a mere inconvenience rather than a loss that affected them all.

Only Kyoko remained, and though her expression was unreadable, Naegi could feel her tension. He could see the flicker of conflict in her eyes, but she remained quiet, trapped in her own thoughts.

As they worked through the details, Naegi felt increasingly isolated. The realization that no one else seemed to care about Kuro’s fate struck him like a blow. The echoes of Hifumi and Ishimaru’s deaths rang in his ears, but it was Kuro’s absence that gnawed at him the most.

"We need to find Kuro!" Naegi insisted, desperation creeping into his voice. "If something happened to him… I don’t know what I’d do."

"Naegi, focus," Kyoko finally said, her voice low and firm. "If Kuro is missing, it’s likely related to the murders. But we can’t let that distract us from the task at hand."

Naegi felt his heart sink. He didn’t understand how they could be so calm, so focused, when one of their own was unaccounted for. He felt sick with worry, and the pit of despair deepened within him.

"You all act like I don’t matter," he muttered, feeling more alone than ever. "Like none of this matters if Kuro isn’t here."

Kyoko paused for a moment, her expression shifting slightly. "That’s not true," she said softly, a hint of vulnerability breaking through her stoicism. "But we can’t let emotions cloud our judgment. If Kuro is in danger, we will find him."

Naegi nodded, clinging to her words as a fragile lifeline. Despite the growing dread, he was determined not to let Kuro’s absence go unanswered.

As the investigation continued, Naegi couldn’t shake the feeling of loss. With each passing moment, the urgency to find Kuro grew stronger. He resolved to uncover the truth behind Hifumi and Ishimaru’s deaths, not just for them, but for Kuro too.

"We’ll figure this out," Naegi whispered to himself, determination burning in his heart. "I won’t leave Kuro behind."

And with that resolve, Naegi plunged into the investigation, fighting against the despair that threatened to consume them all
