She scrunched her nose and furrowed her brows. The streak of morning sun rays played peek a boo with her soft face through the window curtain. Rupali sighed and her eyes fluttered open. The morning light gave peace to her. She sat up on her bed and clutched her pounding head. Previous night's events flashed in her mind and the heaviness returned to her chest. She exhaled deeply and got up from their bed.
Slowly she walked forward and pulled the curtains, making space for the morning rays to fill their room completely with it's warmth. Their room... she looked around. Earlier when he stayed alone in this house, he just had a single cot and a television mounted straight opposite to the bed in this same room. After she came into his life, she had turned the room, their room... aesthetically beautiful. She framed his paintings and hung it on the wall. Crotens adorned the small balcony they had in their room. A dressing table was placed with a medium sized mirror and she filled the racks with hers and his favourite books and albums.
" Yaar honewali biwi.... shaadi hone se pehle hi tu ne mere ghar ko apna bhana liya ... Not bad hun jaan... " his words echoed in her mind as she looked around their room, and a soft smile adorned her lips as she thought about him.
Soon, the latest happenings made their way to her heart and her smile disappeared. Rupali wiped the threatening tears which appeared in her eyes and moved around to take out her clothes for the day.
Upon opening the cupboard, she saw her sarees hanging next to his coats and felt overwhelmed. She took out a sky blue chiffon saree and left to the bathroom.
Gaurav stirred his eyes open. The birds chirping and the morning traffic from the living room's balcony simultaneously woke him up. He sat up and ran his hand through his head. As he turned around he saw their wedding album lying open next to him. His eyes softened as he saw rupali's bridal picture. His mind harked back to last night's events and how she felt so hurt due to his actions.
Gaurav sighed deeply and got up from the floor mattress. After rolling it up and placing it under a rack, he walked towards their room, wanting to see her badly.
As he entered their room, he could not find her anywhere. Panic surged through him. Just as he turned, she emerged from the bathroom, looking downwards and crashed on his chest. The sudden movement made her fall back, but he caught her from falling.
Rupali locked her eyes with gaurav, her hands holding his arms and his one hand holding her arm and the other, wrapped around her waist. She breathed heavily and gulped. Their gaze made them forget all the anger and hurt. It was just pure love that they had now.
He slowly pulled her forward, making her steady. Their hands did not leave each other's body, nor their gaze broke away. Rupali's eyes glistened with tears and his eyes mirrored hers. She so badly wanted to plunge into his arms and seek solace, but something pulled her back. She just could not shake away the hurt he caused her yesterday.
Gaurav understood her conflict and gave a painful smile. He hesitantly removed his hand from her waist and moved two steps back. She immediately felt the loss of his warmth enveloping her as he moved back. But then slowly walked around him to reach the dressing table.
Gaurav turned and kept gazing at her. He noticed every movement of hers, as if he wanted to etch every single second of her image in his heart forever. He felt like he had let her slip away from him, thus atleast felt like holding onto these moments of hers.
