Unlikely Hearts
The morning sun filtered through the windows of Class 1-A’s dormitory, casting long shadows on the floor as the students went about their routines. For most, it was just another day—another day of training, studying, and pushing themselves to become heroes.
But for Bakugo, today was different. Today, he was going to do something he had never thought he’d have to do in his life: confess his feelings.
He paced back and forth in his room, fists clenched at his sides, his face set in a scowl that hid the storm of anxiety brewing inside him. Every time he thought about what he was about to do, his stomach twisted in knots. He didn’t *do* feelings. He didn’t *do* confessions. But somehow, Y/N had pushed him to this point, and now he had no choice but to get it over with.
There was no going back. He’d tell her how he felt, no matter how much it made him want to punch a wall.
With a frustrated growl, Bakugo slammed his door open and stormed down the hallway, his footsteps echoing through the dorm. He didn’t care where Y/N was, he was going to find her, drag her off somewhere private, and just *say it*—the whole damn thing. He was going to confess, and she was going to deal with it.
Time Skip
He found her outside, standing by herself near the training grounds, her eyes scanning the horizon as if she was deep in thought. Bakugo slowed his steps as he approached, feeling his pulse quicken. For a moment, he considered turning around and pretending none of this was happening, but his pride wouldn’t let him. He’d made up his mind, and he was going to see this through.
“Oi,” he called out, his voice gruffer than usual.
Y/N turned her head, catching sight of him as he approached. She raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by the intensity in his expression. “What’s up, *Boom Boom Boy*?”
Bakugo’s jaw tightened at the nickname, but this time he didn’t snap at her. Instead, he took a deep breath, bracing himself for what he was about to do.
Without warning, he grabbed her wrist and dragged her behind one of the nearby buildings, out of sight from any prying eyes. Y/N followed without protest, though she was clearly intrigued by his uncharacteristic behavior.
“What’s going on?” she asked, crossing her arms and leaning back against the wall. “You look like you’re about to explode.”
Bakugo’s hands twitched, tiny sparks popping from his palms as he tried to find the words. He wasn’t used to this. He wasn’t used to being vulnerable or honest about his feelings, and it pissed him off that he even had to do this.
“Shut up,” he muttered, running a hand through his messy hair. “I got somethin’ to say, and you’re just gonna stand there and listen, got it?”
Y/N smirked, clearly enjoying his discomfort. “Ooh, sounds serious. Go on, then. I’m all ears.”
Bakugo growled under his breath, feeling the heat rise to his face. “Look… this is fucking stupid, and I’m only gonna say it once, so don’t interrupt me, alright?”
Y/N pinched his cheeks and held up her hands in mock surrender. “I wouldn’t dream of it.”
“Good.” Bakugo squared his shoulders, glaring at the ground as if it had personally offended him. “I don’t know what the hell’s been goin’ on with me lately, but every time you’re around, I feel like I’m gonna lose my damn mind. You piss me off, you get under my skin, and I hate it. I hate that you’re always in my head, and I hate that I can’t focus when you’re around.”
He paused, his fists clenching as he struggled to get the words out. “But the thing is… even though you drive me fucking crazy, I… I like it. I don’t know why, but I do. And it pisses me off even more.”
Y/N’s eyes widened, a playful glint dancing in her blue gaze. “Wait… are you saying you *like* me, Katsuki?”
Bakugo’s face flushed a deep red, his hands sparking more violently. “Shut up, I’m not done!” He took a shaky breath before continuing. “I like you, alright? There, I said it. I fucking like you. Don’t ask me why, because I don’t have a goddamn clue, but I do. And I know it’s weird and probably doesn’t make any sense, but that’s just how it is.”
For a moment, there was nothing but silence between them. Bakugo stood there, his heart pounding in his chest, feeling like he had just ripped out a piece of his soul and handed it to her on a silver platter. He hated every second of it, but at the same time, he felt an odd sense of relief.
Y/N stared at him, her lips twitching as if she was trying to hold back laughter. And then, without warning, she burst out laughing.
Bakugo’s eyes widened, his embarrassment quickly turning into anger. “What the fuck are you laughing at?! I just fucking confessed, and you’re laughing?!”
Y/N shook her head, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye as she continued to giggle. “I’m not laughing at you, Katsuki. It’s just… the way you confessed was so *you*. It was awkward, weird, and kinda angry, but also… really sweet.”
Before Bakugo could respond, Y/N took a step forward, closing the distance between them. Without any hesitation, she grabbed the front of his shirt, pulling him down to her level, and pressed her lips against his in a quick, impulsive kiss.
Bakugo froze, his eyes widening as his brain struggled to process what was happening. Y/N was kissing him. *Kissing him*. And for a split second, he felt like the world had tilted on its axis.
When she finally pulled back, a mischievous grin spread across her face. “You’re not the only one who’s been losing their mind, you know,” she said softly, her voice carrying a hint of warmth. “I’ve liked you ever since I first met you. I just didn’t think you’d ever notice.”
Bakugo blinked, his heart still racing as he stared at her, completely dumbfounded. “You… what?”
Y/N chuckled, her blue eyes twinkling with amusement. “Yeah, I like you too, *Boom Boom Boy*. You might be a hothead, but I’ve always admired that about you. You’re honest, you’re passionate, and you don’t hold back. It’s one of the things I like most about you.”
Bakugo’s face flushed even deeper, his mouth opening and closing as he tried to form a coherent response. This wasn’t how he had imagined things going. Not even close.
“So…” Y/N teased, leaning in a little closer. “Are you gonna kiss me again, or are you just gonna stand there like an idiot?”
Bakugo growled, his pride kicking back in as he grabbed her waist and pulled her against him. “Shut up,” he muttered before crashing his lips against hers in a kiss that was far from gentle.
