-Damn it! - What's the matter, Yoko? - asked Kanya, who was next to Yoko, outside of campus.
-E... I'm in- exclaimed Yoko nervously, eyes glued to her phone, totally surprised by the email that had arrived.
—Inside? Friend, will you do the role? Oh, I can't believe it! I'm very happy for you- Kanya threw herself at Yoko, hugging her tightly, while Yoko stood still, almost like a statue.
-But... what will I tell my parents? They'll kill me, said Yoko, head down and sighing deeply at the situation.
...
Kanya and Yoko stood there for a few more minutes, reflecting on what had happened and devising a plan to meet Yoko's new challenge. They knew it would not be easy. Yoko's parents had taken her away from the art world to push her into the business world. Her future was clear: she would be the "executive director" of the family business. Although he was still a year away from completing his studies, he knew that this new project he had on his hands would not be to the liking of his parents.
She had only two people in the world who would support her and defend her so that she could return to her artistic passion: her aunt and, of course, her best friend, Kanya.
-What if you ask him to help Aunt Chanthira? - Kanya asked, nervous, biting her nails.
—I don't think it's a good idea, Yoko replied, without taking her phone out of sight. Well, I'm in this situation for her, but if I involve her, I think I'll get her into trouble with my father. They didn't end well. This would blow the whole thing.
-I see! So when are you gonna talk to your parents?
Another inevitable silence accumulated between the two, while they were still in their thoughts.
—Well... I don't know. The truth is that I will have to continue with my studies while recording a series. Oh my God! - I don't know if I can do it, said Yoko, dropping down on a nearby bench with her hands on her head and her face pale with fear. I promised them... I must fulfill them.
—¡Hey! Look at me, Yoko. Relax, okay? We'll find a way to make this work. Just calm down a little -Kanya comforted her, putting a hand on her friend's shoulder.
.........
—Dear, listen to me. you'll have to move into my old apartment. It will be only for the months of recording, do not worry about anything, I will cover what you need.
—T... Auntie, what happened? Why do I have to live in your apartment? - Yoko asked in a choppy voice, her words just coming out of her choppy breath.
—It's a complicated thing, dear. I tried to talk your father back into it. I explained it was only for a few months, that you just needed some support, but he refused. So I made a deal with him. You will have to continue with your studies, but I will take care of the rest. The driver your parents had assigned you, Mr Chen, will no longer transport you.
After two days of reflection, Yoko found no other way out than to tell her aunt Chanthira the whole situation, who offered to talk with her parents to try and reach an agreement. However, there was no way to convince them. The possibility that Yoko would have their support in accepting this new project was practically impossible.
—I know it's hard for you, Yoko. But I want you to be happy. Do you think I haven't noticed that you don't enjoy what you do? You live in automatic, pleasing your father... Honey, I know I left you and just walked away, but I promised to make sure you were okay, and that's what I'm doing. But... if this is really not what you want, you are free to refuse to play that main character. You have my support from beginning to end, always remember it.
