—————

As they left the rehearsal, P'Wan could not help but smile with a mocking touch.

-What were you saying about the girl, Faye? - she asked, letting her provocative tone float in the air.

Yoko had turned her attitude 180 degrees; the shy, reserved young woman had completely disappeared. Now, she was a stubbornly clingy girl, determined to challenge any preconceptions Faye had about her. His new mission was to prove, with every opportunity he had, that he was in this project because of his own talent. For the next few days, Yoko hugged, chased and harassed Faye with playful little tantrums, each of which was so intentional that it surprised the entire team. No one could deny that he had become more of an Anueng than ever before.

Faye, on the other hand, seemed to be confused, almost as if the situation was both uncomfortable and amusing. Yoko's new attitude had left her perplexed, and though she tried to conceal it, there was something in her eyes that let a hint of wonder.

-Still shy, Faye muttered as she scratched her nose and pretended to check her phone, clearly trying to play it down.

P'Wan, who knew her friend too well, noticed the discomfort disguised as indifference. He knew how proud Faye could be in certain ways, and since she had accepted this new project, her dealings with Yoko had been particularly distant, even a little cruel. Although Faye would never admit it, P'Wan suspected that her behavior had a lot to do with the way she ended their last relationship. The walls he had built around him were high, and though they seemed impenetrable, P'Wan sensed that with his tenacity he could find a small crack.

—Yes, of course, as you say, P'Faye, you are always right -replied P'Wan with sarcasm before opening the door to his car. But remember, it's only a few days before shooting, and you're going to be spending a lot of time with Yoko.

Faye, who had just sat in the co-pilot's seat, let out a deep sigh. His fingers moved nervously toward his temple, as his lips formed a barely disguised line of frustration.

P'Wan looked at her sideways, sensing the tension in her friend's gestures. The silence between the two became thicker, until he decided to speak in an attempt to calm her down.

-Faye... - he muttered, the tone of his voice kind but serious.

-Hmm? - Faye answered, without taking her eyes off the road, her tone dry and distant.

P'Wan hesitated, but he had the courage to address the issue that he knew Faye was avoiding with all her might.

—I know we haven't talked about... Well, what happened between you and Lux -stuttered, his voice a whisper trying to break the barrier of indifference of her friend. He knew that Faye needed to vent, but he also knew how strong the wall she had built was.

Faye closed her eyes for a second, visibly upset, before responding coldly:

-There is nothing to talk about, Wan said, keeping his eyes fixed on the road as if he feared that any deviation in his attention could break the control he had struggled to maintain.

P'Wan pressed the wheel, feeling frustration in the air, but chose to remain silent. He knew that Faye's wound was not just about losing a relationship; deep down, P'Wan had always believed that Lux wasn't the right person for Faye, though he never told her. Her friend deserved better, someone who appreciated all the amazing she was.

What had really torn Faye apart was not the breakup itself, but the humiliation. Lux's betrayal had been cruel and heartless, robbing Faye of her dignity in an instant. The lack of sincerity, coldness, and ruthless manner in which Lux had revealed her true nature had left an indelible mark.
