The late afternoon sun casts a golden glow across the park as Babe and Billy strolled side by side. The air was warm, the perfect setting for what should have been a casual hangout. But neither of them could ignore the shift between them—the way everything felt different now.

Since Babe's confession, they hadn't had the chance to really talk about what came next. And while things weren't awkward, there was an unspoken tension in the air. Babe glanced over at Billy, catching the way his friend's hand brushed against his own as they walked. It was a small touch, barely noticeable, but it made his heart race.

He hadn't expected things to change so quickly. Or maybe he had, but not in this way. Everything between them felt heightened now—every glance, every small touch, every moment of silence seemed charged with something unspoken.

"So..." Babe broke the silence, his voice lighter than he felt. "This is weird, right?"

Billy looked over at him with a smile that was both teasing and reassuring. "Weird? What's weird?"

Babe laughed softly, shaking his head. "Come on. You know what I mean. This... us. It's different."

Billy didn't answer right away, his gaze drifting toward the horizon where the sun was starting to dip lower. "Yeah, it is different."

They walked in silence for a few more steps, the weight of their words settling between them. Babe's heart pounded, unsure if he should say more. He didn't want to ruin the moment, but at the same time, he couldn't keep pretending that everything was the same as it had always been.

Billy stopped walking, turning to face Babe with a serious expression. "But different doesn't mean bad, you know?"

Babe met his gaze, his breath catching slightly at how close they were now. "I know," he said softly. "I just... I don't want to mess this up."

Billy smiled, the tension in his face easing slightly. "You won't."

There was something so simple and reassuring about the way Billy said it, as if he had no doubts at all. Babe wished he could be as confident.

They stood there for a moment, the silence between them growing comfortable again. Babe felt the warmth of Billy's presence, the way his heart seemed to calm in that shared space. But there was still a question hanging in the air—one that neither of them had fully addressed yet.

"So, what now?" Babe asked, his voice quieter now, almost hesitant.

Billy shrugged lightly, his expression softening. "We take it slow. Figure it out as we go."

Babe nodded, feeling a flicker of relief. Slow was good. Slow gave them time to adjust, to navigate this new territory without rushing into anything they weren't ready for.

"You're okay with that?" Babe asked, his voice a little firmer now.

Billy nodded, his gaze steady. "Yeah. As long as we're on the same page, I'm okay with it."

Babe smiled, feeling a sense of peace settle over him. He had spent so long worrying about this moment, about how things would change once his feelings were out in the open. But now, standing here with Billy, he realized that maybe he had been overthinking it. Maybe they didn't need to have all the answers right away.

Billy nudged him gently with his elbow, a playful glint in his eyes. "You're thinking too much again, aren't you?"

Babe chuckled, rolling his eyes. "Always."

"Well, stop," Billy said with a grin. "We'll figure it out. No need to stress."

Babe let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. He liked how easy it was to be with Billy, even now when everything felt so new. It was comforting to know that, no matter what, they would figure it out together.

They continued walking, the tension between them easing with each step. There were still questions—still moments of uncertainty—but for now, Babe felt like they were exactly where they needed to be.
