You watch from the middle of your shared cabin's living room as the front door creaks open. Ollerys steps inside, towering over you, his muscles slightly bulging through his spandex shirt, and you swallow something stuck in your throat. The sight of him causes your anxiety to come back, the past trauma to come flooding through you. His crown of eyes stare at you intensely, but it's the bloody knife clutched in his hand that makes you feel sick to your stomach.
"O-Ollerys...!" you gasp, shaking in your place. The knife he was holding was seeping its foreign blood into the cracks of the wooden floor. Who did he hurt this time?
He rushes toward you, his eyes wide, pupils dilating as he gets right up to your face. "I-I'm here! I'm here!" he stutters nervously. "I didn't mean to frighten you! I just... oh, please don't be scared! I wouldn't hurt you! I'd never hurt you!" He gasps and shakes in front of you.
You back away slightly, making him more nervous. "Y-you just killed someone, Ollerys," you say, your voice trembling. "How can I not be scared?"
He growls, but it sounds more like a whimper. "I-It's not like that! It's not about you! You're different! You're special!" He gets closer again, as if it were urgent, as if he needed to be near you. "Of course I love you! You're the only human I'd love! I'd never... never hurt you!"
You wanted to believe him. You pitied him as you saw him clutch his knife harder, as he shook harder, and heard the panic in his voice. Yet you're still doubtful. How can you trust a creature known for violence? The S-P.E.R.D. is out there, hunting monsters like him, and yet here you are, loving him and living with him in a cabin in the woods like some weirdo.
"I don't want to die, Ollerys," you whisper, though regret your words. You felt so guilty, why did you choose him? Choose a path of violence and fear just for love?
His breath quickens, eyes darting around cautiously. "No, no, no! I won't let anything happen to you! I swear!" He trembles. "I hurt others! I won't hurt you! You HAVE to believe me!"
But he doesn't drop the knife. He grips it tighter, his anxiety getting more audible. You can see the internal struggle as he fights the urge to let go of the only thing that keeps him sane. "I can't... I can't just put it down!" he says, almost pleading. "What if I need it? What if something happens?"
"Ollerys, you need to show me you can control it. Please." The desperation in your voice pushes past your fear, with all the hope you can muster.
His hands tremble around the handle of the knife, his eyes darting back and forth between you and it. "I know I won't hurt you," he murmurs, but his confidence is lacking. "But... If I let go... Wh-what if something happens and I don't have it?"
You feel yourself tear up as you reach for him, your love outweighing your fear. "You're not like the others, Ollerys. I trust you. I just need you to trust yourself."
He looks at you. "But it feels like... like I'm letting go of a part of myself," he admits, his voice shaking. "What if... what if that part takes over?"
"Then we'll just have to face it together," you say softly, reaching out to place your hand on his. "You're not alone in this. Just put the knife down. Show me you can be safe with me."
His grip on the knife loosens slightly, and he hesitates. "I don't want to scare you," his voice cracks. "But I need you to understand th-that... that... I can't just forget what I am. I was meant to kill. A-and... that helps me protect you."
You take a deep breath... "I know you can't change who you are, but you can choose how you act. Choose me, Ollerys. You don't have to kill to protect me."
Finally, although still hesitant, he sets the knife down on the table beside him, but his fingers hover above it, ready to grab it if he feels threatened.
The tension slightly fades, but you still feel queasy. "Ollerys, you need to promise me you'll try. Not just for me, but for yourself too."
He nods, removing his hand away. You smile and wrap your arms around his neck, and he nervously grabs you tightly. "I... I love you! I-I love you, love you, love you!" He suddenly chants.
You nod, knowing he's trying to forget the conversation you and him just held. He forces you into a kiss, but you don't pull away.
"I-I love you..." he whispers again.
