A/N: Why do I feel like I am taking prompt literally again...

Takes place before "Ninja family".

Just when Nya was stepping out of the gates of the monastery, she heard footsteps running up towards her.

"Just giving you one last hug before you go." Jay spoke as he hugged Nya.

"You know I will be returning in a week right? Or maybe less."

"I know." Jay chuckles as he rubs his neck. "But What if something goes wrong? What if I need to be there with you?"

"Jay, this isn't some guy, this is my childhood friend I am talking about. It has been so long the last time we met. Besides, I can take care of myself."

"I know but what if-"

"He won't, don't worry." Nya smiled as he hugged Jay back before leaving.

Jay just sighed, though he moved on, he still had some feeling inside about Nya's childhood friend, though it is nothing that he should be worrying about. He still remembers that old stupid love triangle that is triggered by a bot. Who wonders why they took it so seriously?

Meanwhile, Nya walked into the tavern, with full of bounty hunters. Her childhood friend assured her that she was not in any bounty, as Bounty Hunters are neutral with the ninjas unless bounties are involved.

As Nya walked in, he saw a man with blond hair and stunning armour and a decorated helmet. It was sure that that was her childhood friend.

"Hey Caden." Nya smiled as she sat down besides Caden, who he waved as well. "Look like you made yourself well known here. I'm impressed."

"Its all from you. Like how you guys always say ninjas never quit." Caden smiled as he stood up from his seat.

It has been a long while since Caden has seen Nya, they were best friends back then, who knows what they are now.

"Anyways," Nya sighs "What is the mission this time?"

"Well, it involves needing your water powers, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to work together!" Caden, spoke as he led Nya through the taverns and into his gear room. "Take anything you need."

Nya was about to look and inspect the gears when she got a text from someone, Jay.

"I'm guessing that's Jay."

"Yep." Nya smiled as she texted Jay back, assuring him that she was fine.

Sometime later

After some tough missions, they decided to take a break in the forest and set up a camp fire. The two friends shares fond memories.

"Remember when we used to prank Kai, it was so much fun!" Nya spoke as she toasted her marshmallow.

"Yeah, I cannot you belive you dragged me into this, but I accepted because I had a crus..." Caden just passed, he was having so much fun with Nya that he forgot to remember what not to tell.

"You don't need to hide it anymore, it was obvious you had a crush, besides it wasn't a one way."

"Oh, you also had one too?" Caden looked at Nya, it has been many years since they went onto different wild paths that they nearly forgot each other's existance.

"Yep. Then you know things change. And now I have a boyfriend."

"How's Jay? Is he... Alright?" Caden looked at the ground, he became so focused in his way that he did not know where Nya has went.

"Well, he is the best person I could ever ask for. He cares, looks after me well, and is all sorts. He is also cute and funny." Nya looked at the stars through the leaves, reminiscing about any mission she went with Jay, the joy she had. The same joy she is feeling...now.

"That's nice. To someone supportive around you."

"It not just him though, others are too. But our bond became unbreakable after we fought together in that one mission."

"I see." Caden was about to continue when Nya received a call from Jay. Caden gestured her to continue as he stood up and took a walk.

"Hey Nya! How's everything holding up? I miss you. Hows your childhood friend? Is he good? Is he treating you well? I hope tha-"

"Jay, I am fine. The mission went better than I expected. Especially with Caden skills and my elemental powers, it was easier than I thought."

"That's good to hear..."

Jay on the other line paused, though Nya is only gone about a week, the distance he felt, it felt as if she went to another planet. He misses her, but at least she will be fine. As far as he know, she is with the world's best county hunter and her friend.

"Jay? Are you there?"

"Uh nothing..."

"This is about Caden, isn't it? Look, I only set my eyes on you ok? Promise." Nya told Jay, she did NOT want to get that love triangle on his head again.

"I know... but be safe, I want you back in one piece." And with that Jay ended the call. It was wierd, it was normal Nya who ended it. Interesting.

Nya turned off her phone just to see Caden coming back sticks for the campfire.

"Here, are the campfire, I think this should be enough for the night."

"Caden, is there something on your mind?"

"Probably nothing."

"I know you too much." Nya looked at Caden, only for him to sit down at a log.

"I changed a lot you know?"

"No, you didn't."

Caden sat down, thinking about what he wants to say. "Jay seems like a nice guy. I can see why you end up with him."

"Jay is the guy I can see myself hanging around with. Sure he grew up in a junkyard but, he is really inventive." Nya looked at Caden, to her surprise, Caden does not have an expression of sadness, but rather a expression of interest.

"Sorry. If you still-"

"Its fine...Well, things change, you know. Jay's seem great, I wont lie on that. Even I still have some feeling harboured, it is still your choice." Caden looked at the ground before cheering up and looking at his old friend "So... How long since you have been together for? I doubt that Kai was too pleased at first." Caden chuckled at the last line, he knew Kai was protective of her sister.

"We knew each other for years. And yes, Kai was a bit... but he grew into it."

Last day

After a tough mission, they received a great amount of cash, which Caden shared with Nya. It was a unique experience.

"I think we should do this more often."

"Yeah, Or I could work with ninjas instead od Ronin, after all I am more reliable."

"Yes, yes you are." Nya took off her gear as he saw Jay walking up to her and hugging her."

"NYA, WHY YOU NO ANSWER ME CALL. ME MISS YOU!"

"Woah, calm down, Jay. I was busy." Nya hugged Jay back before breaking off. "Anyways, Jay this is Caden. And Caden, this is Jay.

Caden looked at Jay as they shook hands.

"Pleasure seeing you."

"Yeah, you too."

But as they released, they felt a shock simmering through their veins.

A/N: Also, in my unreleased private AU of Ninjago, Caden here is turned out to be Jay's biological little brother. I might incorporate that into my Next generation idk.
