Author's POV

The rest of Beca's day was filled with customers at the store and wondering if Chloe's relationship with Alice was genuine. No, if her relationship with Chloe was genuine. "Becs?", Stacie called out as she saw the girl zone out and staring into the void. "Beca?", she added more sternly this time which made Beca snapped out of her thought and came back to reality. "Hm? Sorry, just a bit tired after last night", Beca responded and shrugged it off before looking at Stacie who stood next to a familiar figure. "Alice uh- hey!", she said awkwardly. Great, what is she doing here? "Hi, I'm actually looking for a gift for Chloe, I thought you'd be able to help me with that since it seems that you guys are quite close.", Alice explained while stroking her arm up and down, cold from the weather. "Uhm, yeah sure. Do you have anything specific in mind?", Beca walked to Alice and asked with a more 'professional' tone. Not only do I have to stay in the same house as them, now I have to help her girlfriend get a gift for her?, Beca thought to herself. "I know she's been quite into Lizz- was it Lizzie? Liza?", Alice found herself go on a trail of thought that led no where. Before it went any further, Beca cut her off, "Lizzy McAlpine?", she asked, knowing that it was one of her favourite artists and she was the one who introduced Lizzy's songs to Chloe back when they were together.

"Yeah! That's the one!", Alice replied in excitement. "I don't really get it, her songs makes me want to sleep, I won't lie", she added on trying to fill the silence between them. Beca walked over to their 'What's New!' section and looked for the vinyl she was looking for. "Here, this just came out. It's the deluxe version of her new album", Beca passed the vinyl over to Alice and smiled awkwardly, not wanting to be in this situation for any longer so she walked towards the counter. "Will that be card or cash?", she asked Alice. "Card is fine", the taller brunette replied and took out her wallet to pay for the gift. As Beca studied her motions, she noticed something on Alice's hand. A ring. I didn't see that before, she thought. It was a thin silver band with a small stone in the middle. "Nice ring", she muttered to herself, thinking that it wouldn't be heard. "Thanks! Chloe got it, some sort of promise ring.", Alice chuckled while a faint rosy red shade crept on her cheeks. A promise ring? Bullshit.

Beca's POV

I felt the blood rushed through my body and my veins and every single nerve that I had in my body. A promise ring? Like she didn't promise me shit and broke it? I truly had enough of this. Maybe they were right. Maybe I should just forget about Chloe. Stupid Chloe with her stupid smile and her stupid laugh and her stupid fucking face and the stupid-

"Will that be all?", Alice snapped me out of my thought after I gave her the receipt. I nodded and smiled at her before she made her way to the exit door and left the store. "Damn.", I heard Stacie said behind me. "You okay?", she added on but I couldn't even be bothered to tell her how I feel. This is stupid. Why am I so hung up? No matter how many one night stands I had, it's still the fucking same. "I'm gonna go out for lunch break, be back in 20", I said bluntly and walked out with my jacket.

I don't usually take lunch breaks since I usually just eat at the back when Emily comes over with food that she packs. But, I think I need it. I find myself wandering aimlessly through the streets, with no destination. I put my earphones in and let the music fill my thoughts, maybe that will help me get Chloe off my mind. As I was walking down the street, I felt a small force push me from the back. Like someone bumped into me but before I could fall they managed to stop themselves. "God, I'm so sorry!", a voice said. I took out my earphones and looked back just to find the redhead that's been planted in my mind. "Becs!", she said cheerily. "Oh, hey Chloe", I replied. "So sorry, I was on my phone and I wasn't really looking infront, are you okay?", she placed her hand on my arm and looked into my eyes. God those eyes. "I'm alright. Where are you off to?", I asked her. "I just got back from coffee with my mom and now I'm about to go get lunch, wanna come with?", she asked and before I could say no, she walked in front of me and ordered me to stay close.

Author's POV

Chloe and Beca ended up at a small Mexican restaurant which just opened a few weeks back and they managed to get a table for the two of them. After ordering their food, Chloe broke the silence. "So..", she trailed off. "So what, Beale?", Beca asked her, taking a sip of her drink. "How've you been?", Chloe asked, cringing at herself attempting to make small talk. It used to be so easy to talk to her, now, it's like a whole new stranger, Chloe thought. "I've been okay", Beca replied bluntly and avoided eye contact with the redhead. "Becs, come on, it's me. How've you been, really?", Chloe asked with a more sincere and direct tone. "What do you want me to say, Chlo?", Beca sighed out and started fidgeting with her fingers, bouncing her leg up and down. "Becs, I know the way we left things-", Chloe was cut off by Beca. "See, but it's not we who left things, isn't it? It was you. It was you who left things. I was ready to move with you- to spend the rest of my life with you. I told you this multiple times! You just upped and left me, and you gave me no say- no choice! And you thought I would be okay? I would be fine after all that and I would be fine with you coming back happy with your new girlfriend? Do you not feel an ounce of guilt, Chloe? Did I even mean anything to you?", Beca explained frustrated and dropped her face in her hands. Chloe just sat there, eyes widened. Overwhelmed with all the emotions that hit her like a wave. "Becs, I-", she tried to speak. There was a hint of weakness in the way she called out Beca's name, as if she's telling Beca in her secret language, I'm sorry.

"I actually should get going back to work, I can't do this. Not right now. I'm sorry", Beca walked to the counter and get her food packed by the server and walked out of the store. Just like that, Chloe was alone.
