chapter fifteen

"uh noona, what are we supposed to do?" yujin asked, panting slightly as he and yurim sprinted across the cafeteria.

"LET'S COLLECT OUR RELATIVES FIRST!" yurim shouted back with excitement. "haeyul, jinseo—do you guys have any relatives here?"

"uhm yeah, hanbin oppa from grade twelve," jinseo replied.

"perfect! is this grade twelve?" yurim asked as haeyul nodded. without hesitation, yurim knocked on the door and barged into the classroom.

"good morni—AHHH MRS SEO!" yurim squealed as she ran up and hugged the teacher.

"omo, you've grown so much!" mrs. seo said with a warm smile, hugging her back. mrs. seo had been yurim's homeroom teacher back in sixth grade, and they had always had a close bond.

"we're here to get hanbin and anyone who admires us," haeyul said confidently, strolling into the classroom. meanwhile, yujin and jinseo stood awkwardly by the door, unsure what to do.

mrs. seo chuckled. "class, if anyone admires yurim or haeyul, feel free to follow them. hanbin, you're coming too."

five students, including hanbin, stood up and joined the group.

"thank you so much, mrs. seo!" yurim beamed, squeezing her former teacher once more.

"alright, alright, go on now. yujin and jinseo look like they're about to bolt from the awkwardness," mrs. seo teased as the two younger siblings shifted uncomfortably.

"okay, bye!" yurim said cheerily as they exited the classroom.

"so," she said, turning to the new recruits. "let's introduce ourselves! i'm han yurim, first-year university, class one. this is haeyul, also first-year uni, class one. these two are yujin and jinseo, our younger siblings. they're in high school year one, class one."

one by one, the others introduced themselves.

"i'm lee heeseung."

"kim minhae."

"kim minae."

"park seungjin."

"and i'm sung hanbin, obviously. we're all grade twelve, class two."

hanbin grinned at yurim. "never thought i'd see you again, at least not like this."

"same here," yurim chuckled, grinning back. "but it's good to see you. president, huh?"

"thanks to you," hanbin replied sincerely. "i'm forever in your debt."

yurim waved it off. "nah, you were a great leader too."

heeseung cut in, "is there anyone else we need to get?"

"oh yeah!" yurim smacked her forehead. "we still need taesan. and don't forget yuhyuck and jiwoong—they're in their third year of uni. the more, the better, since our points also depend on how many people we have."

just then, the kim twins pointed to the ground. "wait—is that a star?"

sure enough, there were five stars hidden under a bench. after thanking the twins, yurim carefully collected them and placed them in a small container.

"alright, off to taesan's class!" she announced as they approached his classroom. bursting through the door dramatically, she curtsied. "good day to you, mrs. lee. may we borrow a few of your students for an important activity?"

mrs. lee laughed heartily. "oh my gosh, yurim! you're still the same as always!"

yurim smiled brightly. "thank you, mrs. lee. we're here to take taesan and anyone who admires haeyul or me."

"you heard her, class. taesan, anyone who admires these two, off you go," mrs. lee said. three more students—soomin, julie, and sarang—stood and joined them.

"thanks, mrs. lee! see you later!" yurim called as they waved goodbye.

just then, a notification pinged in the class group chat.

year one best class!

mr. kim:
hi class! you have about three hours to find stars and answer the questions. a few rule tweaks:

your group can split into two as long as each pair is in a separate group and you agree on sharing.each star is worth one point; each question is worth ten points. the seniors are people from both university and high school, and they can be from different years.

"alright," yurim said, taking charge. "haeyul's group will focus on finishing the drills and finding stars, while my group will go recruit more people and answer the questions."

they split into their respective groups:

haeyul's group: jinseo, hanbin, heeseung, julie, soomin, seungjin, , sarang, minhae, minae

yurim's group: taesan, yujin

for the next hour, yurim's group sprinted across the campuses, rounding up more recruits to strengthen their numbers.
