Two days had passed since Calypso had moved in with the Heelers, and it already felt like she’d always been there. Her presence blended seamlessly into the household. She wasn’t just a guest; she had become a part of their lives. Calypso’s nurturing spirit made caring for Y/N second nature. She played with him, burped him after feedings, and even changed his diapers when needed. Though not his mother, her affection for him was undeniable, and Y/N had taken to her just as quickly.
Today was a quiet day. Chilli was at work, and Rosie had a doctor’s appointment. Since Y/N couldn’t go, Calypso stayed home to watch him, grateful for the chance to spend more time with the baby.
As sunlight streamed through the windows, Y/N slept peacefully in his crib while Calypso stood in the kitchen, finishing the dishes.
Suddenly, she heard rustling from the living room, followed by a small cry that soon grew louder.
Calypso: “Here we go,” she murmured, drying her hands before walking over to the crib.
She scooped Y/N into her arms, his cries quieting almost immediately.
Calypso: “Shhh, Auntie Calypso is here,” she cooed, rocking him gently. Y/N’s distressed face softened, and when his eyes met hers, he broke into a toothless grin.
Calypso: “There’s that smile,” she laughed softly, bouncing him lightly on her hip. “But I hope your grandma gets home soon—don’t want you getting too hungry on my watch.”
Y/N stared up at her, curious as ever. Calypso tickled his belly, drawing giggles from him.
Calypso: “I wish you were mine,” she said softly, then smiled. “But being your auntie is pretty great too.”
After pacing with him for a bit, Calypso sat down on the couch, cradling Y/N against her chest.
Calypso: “What should we do now, hmm? Can’t have you getting bored on me.”
Y/N yawned, fighting sleep. Calypso chuckled, stroking his back.
Calypso: “How about a little walk outside? Some fresh air might do us both some good.”
She wrapped him in a blanket and carefully stepped outside, greeted by a gentle breeze and the sound of birds chirping. As she strolled down the path, Y/N’s eyes widened at the world around him.
Calypso: “Look at all that, little one,” she said, smiling. “Isn’t it beautiful?”
Y/N cooed in response, his head turning to take in the sights.
Calypso: “You really love it out here, don’t you?” she mused, watching his fascination. “Maybe we should do this more often.”
They walked for a while before finding a bench under a tree, where Calypso sat down, holding Y/N close.
Calypso: “You know,” she whispered, gazing down at him, “life gets busy, but moments like this… they remind me to slow down.”
Y/N blinked sleepily, and before long, his eyes closed as he drifted off in her arms.
Calypso: “There you go,” she whispered. “Sleep tight, little one.”
She sat quietly, savoring the moment as the world seemed to slow down around them.
As Calypso sat in the quiet park, the gentle breeze rustling the leaves above her and birds chirping in the distance, she felt an overwhelming sense of peace. She wasn’t Y/N’s mother, but in this moment, she felt like she was exactly where she was meant to be—holding him, caring for him, and loving him in her own way as his auntie. It filled her with contentment, a warmth that spread through her heart.
