It has now been a week since our first big argument. We have avoided any other arguments, but it does seem like both of us have been walking on eggshells with one another to make sure we don't trigger the other person.
We have also been working nonstop, so I guess it makes it easier to not be around each other all the time and risk our chances of arguing again. When we do see each other, we mostly just talk about other topics, cook together, or the majority of the time is just us sleeping together.
Today, Cillian and I surprisingly had the evening off from our jobs, so we made dinner and sat at the table together for once and talked as we ate. It had been so long since we had the time to actually sit down together and eat at the same time; Cillian would usually order takeout while I would eat leftovers while at work.
We had just finished cleaning up the kitchen and putting the dishes away in a comfortable silence until Cillian spoke up.
"I'm going to have a cigarette outside, would you like to come with me?" I nodded my head as I reached for my jacket and lighter as Cillian held the door open for me.
The crisp weather hit my face as soon as I walked out, the warmth from inside leaving my body, now replaced with a cold breeze that made a shiver run down my spine. I passed Cillian the lighter as I watched him bring it up to his lips, where the cigarette was already placed in between.
We took turns, our fingers gently touching as we passed the cigarette, our conversations flowing beautifully from one topic to another. At one point, Cillian had been telling me a story that made me laugh extremely hard and we had to stop walking because I was crying from how funny the story was.
Once I finally managed to recover from my burst of laughter, I took a deep breath and finally looked up and Cillian was smiling as he looked at me.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" I giggled as he took a step closer towards me and wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him.
"I can't look at my beautiful girlfriend?" I smiled sheepishly at him as I gave him a kiss on his cheek.
"You can, only if you give me a kiss once you're done staring." Cillian closed the gap between our faces as our lips touched, moving in sync. We pulled away within a few seconds since we were still out in public, and we didn't want to catch unnecessary attention from the few people still roaming the streets.
We pulled away, but Cillian reached his hand out and intertwined his fingers around mine as we walked back to our apartment. Once we were back at the apartment, I took my jacket off and put it back on the hanger. I walked to the living room and plopped myself on the couch and turned the tv on.
"Can we watch our show? We haven't watched it in ages."
"Yea, sure that's fine." Cillian took a seat next to me after he shut off the main lights and turned on the lamp that was at the corner of the room as I pressed to resume on the part we left on last time we were able to watch Game of Thrones together.
We managed to watch two episodes before we both started to doze off, so I turned off the tv as Cillian turned the lamp off. He then walked towards me and scooped me up as he took us to our bedroom and we both got ready for bed.
We laid next to each other under the covers as we spoke about what the rest of our week would look like, errands we had to run, etc. until we kissed each other goodnight and he pulled me in closer to his chest and I fell asleep listening to the beating of his heart as his warmth made me feel safe and calm.Soon, the soft snores poking through Cillian's parted lips echoed through the room, and we were both fully asleep until the next morning.
