Wei Wuxian woke up to a knock on his door. He sat up and stretched before asking, "who is it?" His voice sounded groggy yet soft, it held delicacy and none of the authority it had in his revious life.. he still felt salty about that, but ignored it. What was the point of sulking after all?
"It's me, Zhan Feng.. I called for a bath?" Though it was a statement, it sounded more like a question. Wuxian was taken aback bybthe gesture, but still checked if he was properly dressed before making his way to the door.
He unlocked the door and opened it slightly, before quickly closing it. "What's wrong!?" The man outside asked and Wuxian laughed awkwardly. "Oh! Silly me, I am still on my pijamas haha!" He laughed while looking around his inn bedroom, he finally spotted the red silk cloth he had word around his face near his bed.
He sighed out in relief, before wrapping it around his face and coming back to the door. He opened it again and smiled awkwardly despite the two man outside not seeing it.
Zhan Feng gave him a wierd look but didn't comment, while the servant behind him just walked in with the bath water and left it in the compartmented part of the room.
Looking at the bath tub Wei Wuxian felt an impending doom as he gulped realising he wpuld have to get fully nake for that. Zhan Feng observed him the entire time, after the clerk left, he stopped Wuxian from closing the door with his foot and walked into the room.
"You haven't told me your name" He spoke softly while closing the door behind him.
Wuxian didn't respond, only backed away from the door. "Your mother has passed." He spoke suddenly and Wei Ying didn't know what to say in response. So he really knows who I am.. he figured without any change of expression, not that the taller man woud see it anyway.
"She passed shortly after you ran away... again" Zhan Feng continued while observing Wuxian's body language for any sort of reaction, and was visibly annoyed when non came.
"Say something a'Lu!" He yelled making Wei Wuxian flinch in spite of himself. Looking at the taller man, he saw tears in his eyes and he felt guilty, your a'lu doesn't exist anymore... he thought while grabbing the sides of his robes tightly confused on the appropriate course of action.
With tears streaming freely down his face the man only grew fustrated, "it's already been three months since the funeral, and you only come back now?" He questioned with a shaky voice amidst his sobs, and though his voice sounded hurt it felt almost mocking at the same time.
"I..."
"It's always you!" Wei Wuxian paused at the suddenly offensive tone.
"You only think of yourself. You know how happy your mother was about you being a cultivator, why would you do this to her!?" The man yelled and Wuxian felt himself shrink being yelled at like this as soon as he'd woken up. He was used to being yelled at, but no one had ever given him such mixed feelings, was the man mad at him or not?
He hadn't read anything about Zhan Feng in Mo XuanLu's notes, neither had there been a mention of him from the short girl who briefed him afterwards about the caster's life.. who was this man that seemed to know so much about her?
Wei Wuxian could only remain quiet as the man yelled at him for things he wasn't aware of, hearing him, he imagined Xuanlu had had no idea of her mother's passing either from the way he spoke of it.
Seeing Xuanlu was unwilling to engage in conversation, the Zhan Feng stopped talking. He gave her a final look while taking a deep breath to control himself, before turning around and opening the door.
"I don't know what you're searching for this time, but you better stay away from the Mo family.. we don't need you anymore" he spoke with a voice laced with hatred, and Wuxian sighed making him look back.
