Madam Mo's arm twitched and turned with an unnatural strenght. Wei Wuxian knew that despite looking soft those from the Lan clan had massive arm strength, yet the woman barely struggled under Lan Sizhui's graple!
Seeing that her arm was reaching for Sizhui's neck Wei Wuxian had to think fast, kicking Jingyi in fron of the boy. The arm grabbed his shoulder from the back!
But just as they came in contact flames ignited from where they met, burning Jingyi's robes completely burned as the boy struggled to remove it.
Madam Mo's arm burned, as she stuggled and screamed before the arm fully disconnected from her body.
"Hey! Why would do that!?" Lan Jingyi turned to Wei Wuxian yet recalling she was a young maiden he humphed and unshated his sword as the sitaution escalated.
"The robes!" Sizhui yelled removing his own outer robes and the other Lan disicples did the same following his lead. The bundle of robes were thrown at the arm on the ground and the white fabric ignited in flames.
Lan Sizhui yelled, "Formation 1!" Ubsheating his own sword and again the disciples followed suit, all formed a cirlce around tbe arm and pierced their swords into the ground while putting spiritual power into the.
Wei Wuxian watched he scene from afar growing weary of what could go down. Just then she decided something should be done, those robes were burning far too quick, there was only so much damage they could do.
Wei Wuxian clicked her tongue, eyes flicking from the burning robes to the disciples holding their formation. The flickering flames danced against the night, casting long, writhing shadows across the courtyard.
The severed arm was still standing strong and fighting against the formation despite the burning robe encatations and the sword formation. Meanwhile Madam Mo’s body still jerked violently, attempting to crawl forward. This would not do. They needed something stronger, something faster. And the juniors - while formidable for their age - were already tiring.
Her fingers twitched with the urge to call on something more, but then her mind snapped to another possibility.
The walking corpses outside.
Turning sharply on her heel, she dashed past the struggling juniors, ignoring their confused glances as she made her way out the broken entrance. The air outside was thick with the acrid scent of burnt flesh and the lingering spiritual energy from their previous battle. The corpses the juniors had subdued earlier lay scattered in the dim moonlight, still twitching from the effects of the talismans holding them down.
Wei Wuxian kicked one of the talismans out of formation before crouching, fingers pressing against the cold dirt as she channeled resentful energy into the corpses. A pulse of resentment rippled outward, slithering into the fallen bodies, coaxing them to move once more.
The response was immediate - but not the one he expected.
Instead of lurching upright, the corpses shuddered violently. Their fingers dug into the ground, clawing at the dirt as though trying to shrink away from him. Hollow, empty eyes flickered with something dangerously close to fear.
Wei Wuxian furrowed her brows. Why aren’t they responding?
She pressed harder, letting her energy coil around them, commanding them to rise. But instead of obeying, the corpses trembled. Their limbs quaked, and one by one, they sank to their knees, foreheads pressing into the dirt in a grotesque mimicry of supplication.
They were afraid of her.
Wei Wuxian exhaled sharply through her nose, irritation curling hot inside her chest. They were too weak. Their spirits were too fractured, their resentment too faint to be of any use. He didn’t have the time or patience to nurture them into something useful - not when the juniors were still fighting inside.
