CALISTA WALKED QUIETLY THROUGH the house, making sure to not make any noise. she had managed to get notti past the front door without her dad noticing, but now they were faced with the challenge of getting to her room without being caught. she led the way up the stairs, her heart pounding in her chest.
every creak and whisper of movement sounded like thunder in the quiet house. she glanced back at notti who followed her closely, his expression calm and composed. they finally reached the top of the stairs and made their way down the hallway towards calista's room.
she prayed that her dad wouldn't wake up and come out to investigate. she pushed open the door to her room, the door squeaking on its hinges just slightly.
she winced, hoping the sound hadn't been loud enough to wake anyone. once they were inside, she closed the door quietly behind them.
