NOTTI AND CAL were on FaceTime, even though it was quite early in the morning. The reason they talked at such an hour was because Calista's dad was sleeping in the same hotel room, leaving them no time to talk during the day.
"Don't go to sleep," Cal urged. "I'm trying not to," He muttered, his voice groggy and deep, betraying his tiredness. He adjusted his phone, trying to get a clearer look at her on the screen.
"Do you miss me?" He kissed his teeth. "No 'cause youn' miss me," He said, a hint of an irritated fondness in his tone. Calista couldn't help but chuckle slightly, feeling both amused and guilty at his words.
"Of course I do," She protested, pouting slightly through the screen. "I miss you lots."
"No you don't bro, youn' don't even call niggas." Her heart sank slightly. She knew he was right to some extent — she hadn't been the best with keeping in touch over the past few days.
With everything going on with her and her dad, her focus had been elsewhere, and she hadn't reached out to Notti as much as she should have.
"I'm sorry," She said, her voice soft. "I've been...busy. You know that." She sighed.
He was silent for a moment, his expression hard to read through the screen. But his silence spoke volumes — he had noticed her distance and it had hurt him.
"You know you jus' sayin' that shit." He muttered. "You forgettin' about me?" The accusation stung, making her heart ache more. She hadn't forgotten about him.. had she?
