Sasuke's fingers trembled as they grazed Naruto's cheek, the tension in the air thick enough to suffocate him. His heart pounded violently in his chest, but in that moment, the overwhelming need to act overtook everything else. Before he could stop himself, he leaned in and pressed his lips to Naruto's.
The kiss was quick, desperate, and when Sasuke pulled away, he immediately felt the weight of what he'd just done. Panic gripped him, and he stumbled backward, his eyes wide in disbelief.
"I—I didn't mean to," Sasuke stammered, his voice breaking. "It was an accident! A joke! I... I was just messing around, Naruto. Don't take it seriously."
Naruto, still stunned, stared at him. His heart was racing, his mind trying to process what had just happened. "Sasuke..."
But Sasuke wasn't listening anymore. His panic had taken over. He couldn't bear the thought of losing Naruto because of something so reckless. He'd acted without thinking, and now all he could do was backtrack and hope Naruto didn't hate him for it.
"It doesn't mean anything!" Sasuke insisted, his voice shaking. "I don't... I don't want things to change between us, okay? We're still friends. Just forget it."
Naruto stood frozen, the words not fully sinking in. Before he could respond, a voice cut through the silence.
"What the hell was that?"
Both Naruto and Sasuke turned to see Sakura standing a few paces away, her eyes blazing with fury. She had seen everything—the kiss, the way Sasuke had touched Naruto, the moment they had shared. That was everything she ever wanted.
"S-Sakura-chan?" Naruto stammered, still trying to gather his thoughts. "It's not what you think—"
But Sakura wasn't listening. Her hands clenched into fists, and a wave of anger washed over her. For years, she had been trying to get Sasuke to notice her, to win his affection, and now, here he was, kissing Naruto of all people.
"You!" she spat, glaring at Sasuke. "How could you?!"
Sasuke's heart sank, nausea swirling in his gut. This was exactly what he hadn't wanted—someone seeing, someone knowing. Especially not Sakura. But before he could say anything, Sakura's gaze shifted to Naruto.
"Naruto," she said, her voice trembling with a mixture of anger and desperation. "You... you deserve better than this. Sasuke doesn't care about you! He's just messing with your head." Her eyes softened, and she took a step closer to him. "But I do. I care. You need someone who understands you, someone who won't play games."
Naruto felt a knot forming in his stomach. He knew Sakura was hurt, but the idea of her trying to use this moment to push Sasuke away didn't sit right with him. He opened his mouth to respond, but Sasuke's voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Sakura, stop," Sasuke said, his voice low but steady. "This isn't about you."
Sakura's face twisted in disbelief. "Isn't about me? You kiss Naruto and then act like it's no big deal?!"
Sasuke's nausea deepened, the weight of everything—his feelings, the kiss, and Sakura's reaction—was suffocating him. He turned away, his mind swirling with confusion. And then, as if to complicate matters even further, his thoughts returned to what Naruto had said earlier—about being able to get anyone pregnant.
Absurd. It was absurd. There was no way Naruto, or anyone, could have such a power, right? And yet, the possibility gnawed at him. Kurama's power had always been a mystery, and Sasuke had seen firsthand the strange things that had happened to Naruto during his ruts. What if...?
His stomach churned at the thought. The kiss had been impulsive, something he'd never imagined himself doing. But now, the idea that something even more bizarre could come from it—that was something he couldn't handle.
"Sakura, leave it alone," Naruto said finally, breaking the tense silence. His voice was calm but firm. "This is between me and Sasuke. Don't get involved."
Sakura's eyes widened, hurt flashing across her face. "Naruto... I'm trying to help you."
"I know," Naruto said, his voice softening. "But this... this isn't something you can fix."
Sakura's lips trembled as she backed away, anger and heartbreak warring in her eyes. Without another word, she turned and stormed off, leaving Naruto and Sasuke alone once more.
Sasuke felt like he was going to be sick. Everything was spinning out of control, and he didn't know how to stop it.
Naruto turned to him, his expression a mix of confusion and concern. "Sasuke, why did you kiss me?"
Sasuke swallowed hard, his voice barely a whisper. "I don't know."
But that wasn't entirely true. He did know. He just wasn't ready to admit it.
Sasuke looked up, meeting Naruto's eyes, and for the first time, he felt a flicker of hope. Maybe, just maybe, this wasn't the end. But the lingering question—about Kurama's power and what it meant—still haunted him.
Sasuke couldn't shake the feeling that things between him and Naruto had just become even more complicated than he'd ever imagined. Maybe Naruto would never want him. What would he do if he also lost his best friend.
Sasuke's nausea worsened, a knot tightening in his stomach as the tension between him and Naruto grew unbearable. He clenched his fists, trying to suppress the rising wave of sickness, but it was too much. Without warning, he stumbled to the side and threw up, his body heaving with the force of his emotions.
Naruto rushed to his side, worry evident on his face. "Sasuke, are you okay?"
But before Sasuke could respond, Sakura, still fuming with anger, stormed over. Her eyes burned with rage as she looked at the two of them. "You think you can just act like that and get away with it?" He could hear her voice saying something but he didn't know what. Couldn't she just shut up for once.
Without warning, she shoved Sasuke hard, her strength enhanced by her chakra. Caught off guard, Sasuke lost his balance and tumbled backward—right into the nearby river with a loud splash.
"Sasuke!" Naruto yelled, watching as Sasuke disappeared beneath the water.
