WHO ELSE HAVE BEEN WONDERING WHY FAVOUR AND JAYDEN HAVEN’T BEEN ALL LOVEY-DOVEY AS USUAL SINCE SCHOOL RESUMED? WELL, SOMEONE MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE CHEATED.
How about we meet tomorrow? Stardom hotels, Room 321. You in?
11:59 PMAnd your boyfriend? I don’t want him coming there to make a scene. I would if I was the one.
12:00 AMHe won’t be a problem. I told you I already handled him.
12:00 AMThat conversation would forever be engrained in Favour’s memory. And everyone had seen the message too. Every darn student of Primestone Academy.
She had been hit with a trailer load of emotion when she saw the message. She had been dumbstruck, speechless, confused, upset, angry and embarrassed simultaneously. And there was Jayden’s expression when he had read the conversation. The look of betrayal on his face was what finally drove her out of the assembly hall.
Twenty-four hours after the unfortunate incident, the students of Primestone Academy haven't stopped talking about it.
Favour wasn’t delusional enough to believe that her fellow classmates and other students loved her. She knew it was the fear of her wrath that kept them at bay. After the incident yesterday, the students seemed to have developed enough courage to say exactly what they thought of her. She heard the whispers from them when they thought she wasn’t paying attention. Some even went to the extent of talking loud enough to make sure she heard.
Ifechukwu and Daberechi’s attitude had come as a shock to her when they joined the bandwagon. She wasn’t close to them as she was with Meredith quite alright, but she didn’t expect them to turn their backs on her so fast it almost gave her a whiplash.
The nerve of them, she tsked inwardly as she watched some junior students stampede their way to the assembly hall at the sight of Meredith.
“You should go talk to him,” Meredith advised as they watched the equivalent of a rush hour. A junior student had earlier come to inform Favour that Jayden was asking for her.
Favour let her gaze fall on her. She knew Meredith Peters had her best interest at heart. She was the closest thing Favour had to a friend in the school anyway. Others had made it very clear they would rather not handle her inhumane self.
“Nah. I would rather not. For now anyway.”
“The way you treat Jayden is bad for a boyfriend you know. The boy deserves way better.” And he did. Meredith had known Jayden way before Favour transferred to their school in Ss1.
“Yeah. I should just hand him over to you. You will surely treat him better,” Favour agreed. Even though her face was dead to any emotion whatsoever, Meredith knew she was being sarcastic. That didn’t stop her from uttering her next words.
“I’m very serious. Jayden is one of the best boyfriends any girl could ask for. Unlike any of our godforsaken classmates, he is not in any way manipulative. Take it from someone who has experienced such. If anything, you’re the one doing the manipulation.” She paused to regard her friend. She wasn’t surprised by the smug look Favour had on her face.
“Jayden has been patient enough with you. If you lose him now, you’re never going to get him back. So friend, don’t let such rare gem slip through your fingers.” Meredith didn’t wait for any response as she walked away. Favour was never going to reply anyway.
She didn’t care if Favour saw her as a threat. Truth be told, she had nursed a crush for Jayden for the longest time until Favour came along. When she saw how Jayden looked at Favour, her hopes of getting into a relationship with Jayden completely shattered. And when he confided in her about his feeling for Favour she wasn’t surprised at all.
