1 hour before Judgement

Carrying Sunny out of medbay delicately, you smiled down at him. "We're going to have a party with everyone, Sunny! Isn't this great? It's going to be so much fun!" You happily carried him through the open door to the breakroom and set him on the table, which was lined with your friends.

Everyone clapped as the cake was placed onto the table. "Woohoo!" Kel cheered, "Happy Birthday, Basil! This rocks!"

"Here, here," Aubrey agreed, "To our pilot and friend, to Basil!" She said, raising a bottle of mouthwash.

"Come on, you have to give a speech!" Hero insisted.

"Go on, have at it!" encouraged Aubrey, "You better make it good!"

"Hell yeah!" Kel agreed.

With everyone's encouragement, you made a simple statement. "Our futures are..." You trailed off. You had it down before.

Everyone applauded. You did great. You're worth it. You're loved. They love you. Sunny loves you. You decide it's time to cut the cake.

You grab the knife from the table, move over beside Hero, and begin to cut into the cake. The cake writhes in pain. You continue to cut the cake. He screams in agony. You continue to cut the cake. His terrified cries ring on deaf ears.

Finally, the cake is cut. You cut the piece into four smaller pieces for everyone to eat. Now you remember the speech you wanted to make. "Our futures are certain, and the light of life is everlasting. Our captain may have crashed the ship, but we shouldn't hold that against him. The lord says to turn the other cheek, and so, we shall. No good deed goes unrewarded, right captain? We'll see to it you get the reward you deserve," you smile down at Sunny. Sunny cries with joy.

PROVE YOUR WORTH

A dark hallway stretches out before you, and the cold dampness of the walls disgusts you. Thankfully, the end of the hallway is illuminated. There is a door. It's the medbay.

You open the door to find the room in a mess. The only thing you have the option to do is go down the vent surrounded by Kel's blood. Hanging over the vent is the utility room keys. You try to grab the keys, but they are just barely out of reach as you fall down.

The vent was enormous. Each vent segment is larger than the entire medbay. You planned to follow the vent to utility to figure out what was going on.

You saw Kel in the darkness. "Kel!" You call out. He begins to walk away. Then, red lights suddenly flash on, and he disappears.

The red lights then went out. You felt yourself walking through a bed of flowers. Soft petals could be felt against your shins.

A voice whispered in your ear. "You are unworthy."

You began walking through the ship's halls towards utility. The halls bent and contorted into impossible directions, bending downwards at an angle where utility would be directly below you now.

You open the door and begin to freefall. The air as you fall feels like scratching on your face. It whips your hair around as though there were someone tugging it around like the reins of a horse.

You felt a collar wrap around your neck. You futilely tried to look down to see it. The collar was hidden by your chin. Finally, you hit the ground.

There was no pain as you did. Despite the speed at which you touched down, there were no broken bones or even the slightest bit of pressure to your knees.

You could hear the crying of kittens, mewling as though they were starved of milk. Axes surrounded you on all of the walls. You ignored the vent on the wall and proceeded to crouch down to make it through the doorway that was sideways on the east wall.

You found yourself in a completely dark room, Aubrey tied to the chair that you had her seated in.

You took the gun out of your pocket in preparation and waited for her to wake up.

A graveyard began to appear around you. You saw tombstones for everyone you know. One for you, too. Flowers were on some of the graves. One on Hero's. One on Kel's. One on your grandmother's. One on your mother's, and your father's, too.

Gun in hand, you put your hands on your face, the cold steel of the gun against your forehead.

You sighed and took your hands off of your face. The graveyard disappeared, and Aubrey woke up.

Aubrey looked confused for a second but then saw you. She then saw the gun. Then, she felt herself tied up. "Reached a climax, haven't we?" She spoke without fear.

You stared at her silently, looking on with curiosity. "Well, before you go through with what you're planning, I have something to say. So shut the fuck up and listen."

You do as you're told. "I spent five years of my life drinking, doing drugs, and getting high. The only times I was sober were the few seconds after I woke up before I drank. Hair of the dog. Then one, day, I saw a bright light. I couldn't tell you what it was. A street lamp, a flashlight, someone's doorstep lamp, or maybe just the light of fuckin' salvation, shining down on me. In that light I saw me, dead. Overdosed on some drug or something, foamed at the mouth and all. Puke and blood covering my shirt."

She paused for a moment, "So, I got my act together. Went sober, got a real job, and started doing something with my life. Thought I was making some big changes with a great future. But you know what? None of it left me happy. None of it was worth shit in the end. It all just made me feel even more worthless than before. So you know what, in a broken down truck, high as a kite, waxing poetic about the first things that came to mind while getting fucked by some guy I barely knew... those were the best days of my life. The best days of my life... I have nothing left to hide. I'm the only reason Kel's dead. My own stupid-ass choice to dip my feet back in the water. But you? You're the most selfish, deluded, braindead motherfucker in this universe, and you're too blind to even see it."

"I'm going to fix everything, Aubrey. We're going to make it." you claimed with a disturbing sense of calm.

"Fuck you," she retorted. You slowly raised your gun to the level of Aubrey's head and pulled the trigger.
