Eurylochus was the second in command of Odysseus, the voice of the crew, one of the strongest soldiers in the ship after Odysseus, and apparently, the man Ares picked to defeat him.

Eurylochus was mopping the deck when he felt a strong presence behind him.

Turning around a bit too quickly, the buff man tumbled back and tripped over the bucket right behind him, falling with a splash.

"Ow..." The man groaned, looking up to see the god that was watching him for some time now.

Scrambling up, he realized who it was.

"A-...Ares...?!" His eyes widened in disbelief.

The war god nodded, confirming that he was, in fact, Ares.

"That's me."

The mortal's mouth hung open, his eyes wide. Quickly, he knelt down in front of the god. Ares laughed at the sight.

"Why the formality?" He asked.

A tint of pink spread through Eurylochus' features.

"Well..." He started but paused for a moment.

"What else am I supposed to do?"

The taller one chuckled once more and beckoned the other to stand.

"I'm here for a reason," Ares said, voice as deep as the ocean. Kind of like his uncle, Poseidon.

Eurylochus but back a snarky 'of course you are'. He didn't want to anger a god, especially the god of war.

"What is it?" The man asked, hesitance clear as crystal in his voice.

"Well," Ares started. "I made myself a bet as well as a deal that I should pick a particular someone to fight their warrior."

The mortal couldn't believe his ears. He tried not to get his hopes up as he stared at the taller one.

The war god continued. "And...I think you have an idea about what I am doing here."

"...I'm the one you picked...?" The buff man asked, his eyes glinting as he waited for Ares' response.

Ares nodded, amused by the man's eagerness.

The said man gasped, both surprised and excited about the unexpected news.

"So, do you agree? Will you allow me to train you to become a better soldier?"

"...yes."
