"I am yours; save me, for I have sought your precepts."

Psalms 119:94

----------

The wind howled through the narrow streets, carrying with it the first chills of winter. Jacqueline sat on a worn park bench under the streetlamp, her coat wrapped tightly around her to ward off the cold. She stared at the ground, lost in thought, the weight of a decision hanging heavy on her shoulders. Across from her, Joshua stood silently, leaning against a tree, his eyes watching her carefully.

"Jacquilyn," Joshua said softly, breaking the silence. "I don't know what you're thinking, but I can see it's eating at you. You don't have to carry this by yourself."

Jacquilyn sighed, her breath visible in the cold air. "I don't even know what to think anymore, Josh. It's like everything is falling apart, and I've been trying so hard to figure things out on my own. But no matter what I do, nothing seems to get better."

Joshua stepped closer, his expression was full of concern. "What do you mean? What's going on? "

She looked up at him, her eyes filled with a mix of frustration and helplessness. "I've been struggling with my job, with my family... Everything just feels like it's slipping out of control. I don't know what God wants from me anymore. I thought I was following His plan, but now I feel lost. I've prayed; I've asked for help, but nothing's changing."

Joshua sat down beside her on the bench, his voice steady. "You're not lost, Jacquilyn. Sometimes it feels that way, but God hasn't abandoned you. Maybe it's not about trying to figure everything out yourself. Maybe it's about trusting Him to guide you, even when you don't have all the answers."

Jacquilyn stared ahead, her hands fidgeting in her lap. "I want to trust Him, but it's hard when things are falling apart. I keep asking Him to save me from this and to give me some sort of direction. I've sought His guidance, but... What if I'm not hearing Him? "

Joshua nodded, understanding her struggle. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out his small, well-worn Bible. He flipped through the pages until he found what he was looking for. "I was reading this earlier, and I think it might be something you need to hear. I am yours; save me, for I have sought your precepts. It's a simple verse, but it's powerful. It means I belong to You, God. Save me, because I've sought Your guidance. It's not about having all the answers—it's about surrendering to Him and trusting that He will guide you."

Jacquilyn listened quietly, her eyes softening as she took in his words. "I've been so focused on trying to fix everything myself, I think I forgot that I don't have to do this alone. I've been seeking His guidance, but maybe I haven't fully let go. I keep asking Him for answers, but I haven't fully trusted Him to lead me."

Joshua smiled gently. "It's easy to feel like we need to take control, especially when things seem chaotic. But God asks us to trust Him, to remember that we belong to Him. You've sought His precepts and His teachings. Now, maybe it's time to turn everything over to Him, to say, 'I'm Yours, God. I trust You to save me and to lead me.'"

Jacquilyn felt something shift inside her—a sense of release as if the burden she had been carrying was starting to lift. "I guess I've been holding onto everything so tightly, afraid that if I didn't, everything would fall apart. But maybe I need to loosen my grip and let Him take control."

Joshua nodded. "Exactly. It's about surrender, Jacquilyn. It's about recognizing that you are His, and because of that, He will take care of you. He won't leave you in this mess. You've sought Him, and He will guide you. But sometimes, we have to let go of our need for control to fully experience His guidance."

Jacquilyn looked up at the night sky, the stars just beginning to peek through the clouds. A quiet peace began to settle over her heart. "I'm ready to let go," she said softly. "I'm ready to trust Him, to let Him lead me."

Joshua smiled, his eyes filled with encouragement. "That's a good step, Jacquilyn. Trusting God doesn't mean everything will suddenly be perfect, but it does mean that you won't be walking this road alone. He's with you, and He'll guide you, even through the uncertainty."

For the first time in a long while, Jacquilyn felt a sense of calm, a reassurance that she wasn't navigating the storm of life on her own. She belonged to God, and that meant something. It meant that no matter how lost she felt, she could turn to Him, and He would save her.
