After our kiss, I stepped out of Rayan's office, my heart racing. *God, that was my first kiss!* I couldn't help but twirl and laugh a little to myself. For the first time, something in my life felt... right. *Naksh really did a great job* getting us here.

I started my car and drove to Xavier's house-my *sasural* (in-laws' home). As I rang the bell, I immediately heard Winnie's excited voice.

"Ruuuuuuuuuuu!" she squealed, running to hug me. I hugged her back tightly, feeling her warmth. Together, we entered the house, still giggling like schoolgirls.

"How's married life going, child?" aunty asked, walking in with a plate of biscuits and a glass of water.

"Not bad yet... not good," I said, giving a half-smile. She placed a comforting hand on my head, her motherly warmth soothing me.

"God will bless you soon, my child."

I smiled at her kind words, and we started chatting about random things, just passing the time. As we were deep in conversation, I heard the sound of a car pulling into the driveway. Xavier had come home.

He walked inside and, without missing a beat, ,i said "Go and clean yourself up and come back. I'm starving."

He rolled his eyes, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. "Now that you've said it, I'll take even more time!" He teased. Xavier just gave a small grin and walked off to freshen up, while I glanced over at aunty and Winnie, who were trying to suppress their smiles behind their hands.

I pouted, trying to play along with the mood. "No one loves me here!" I dramatically sighed.

"Who said that? I love my princess so much!" I turned around to see uncle, his warm voice and smile greeting me. He hugged me and planted a kiss on my forehead.

I smiled brightly and replied, "Uncle, please! Go change your clothes and come back quickly. I'm so hungry! Look, my stomach's flat already!" I patted my stomach for emphasis, earning a chuckle from him.

"Yes, yes, my princess. Two minutes, and I'll be back!" He said, disappearing to change.

I sat down at the dining table, my eyes scanning over the delicious spread. It was all vegetarian, as always. Being a vegetarian myself, I found comfort in these meals. Even if I teased about wanting something different, this was the food I loved and grew up with.

Winnie sat next to me, noticing my expression. "Even though it's veg, you're still picky, aren't you?" she teased.

I grinned, shaking my head. "I am not! You know I love my veggies."

As the family gathered around the table, the warm, cozy atmosphere wrapped itself around me. Despite the ups and downs of married life, moments like this-simple, filled with love and laughter-reminded me that maybe, just maybe, things were falling into place after all.

After finishing my meal, I glanced at the time. It was already midnight. I knew he'd be furious for staying out so late.

"Ru, if you want, I can ask Xavier to drop you home," Aunty offered kindly.

"No, Aunty, I brought my car," I replied, showing her my keys before heading out.

As I reached my car, my phone pinged. I checked and saw it was Xavier. He'd sent me the files I needed to submit by tomorrow. "Great," I thought. "What am I going to do now?" Starting the engine, I drove home.

When I entered the house, it seemed everyone was asleep. I tiptoed carefully, but then I heard Tara Ma's voice.

"Ah, you’re back?" she said.

"Yes, Ma."

"Do you want to eat something?" she asked with a smile.

"No, thank you, Ma. Good night."

She kissed my forehead and went back to bed. I felt so blessed to have such a sweet mother-in-law. I headed to my room, changed, and took out my laptop to start working.

I was so engrossed that I didn't notice how late it was until I heard a sharp voice.

"Shut down your laptop!" he called out. But I pretended not to hear him. The next second, I saw my laptop in the air as he grabbed it. I looked at him, annoyed.

"Give it back!"

"No. Go to sleep and let me sleep, too," he replied.

"No, give it back!" I said, jumping to grab it.

"No," he teased, walking towards the bed. In one last jump...

Boom! Thud!

My laptop fell to the floor, and with it, all my hard work was scattered. I stared at the mess, feeling defeated.

"I'm sorry," he said sheepishly.

"Your 'sorry' won’t bring any of it back," I replied, trying not to cry.

"Didn’t you save it on a flash drive?" he asked.

I bit my lip. "No."

"God, this girl," he sighed.

"It's not my fault! Who told you to grab my laptop like that? Now how will I take a leave from work?" I said, sitting on the bed, frustrated.

"Okay, you sleep," he said, trying to calm me down.

"Are you out of your mind? How can I sleep right now?"

"Watch your language," he reminded gently.

"Sorry," I mumbled.

He sighed and said, "I'll remake the files for you." He brought his laptop and sat on the bed, leaning against the headboard. I lay down beside him, feeling his hand lightly stroke my head until I drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, I woke up and looked over at him, still sleeping. I noticed the laptop beside him, opened to the completed presentation. I couldn’t believe it. I looked at him again and whispered, "Is he a robot?"

Peeking at the slides, everything was perfect. I looked at his sleeping face and kissed his cheek softly. "Thank you so much, dear husband," I murmured.

I got out of bed, took a quick shower, and got dressed in white pants, a black top, and a jacket, tying my hair in a ponytail. When I went downstairs, Tara Ma was waiting with a stern look.

"I told you to take the day off! Even Vidyut wouldn’t dare argue, and here you are, heading to the office," she scolded.

"Ma, it’s just to drop off a document. It won’t take long, I promise." I gave her a quick peck on the cheek, and her anger melted.

"Alright, but come back soon," she said, a little reluctantly.

"Bye, Ma!"

I hopped in my car and drove to the office. When I handed over the documents, Xavier gave me a suspicious look.

"Ma scolded me for coming in today and told me to take a holiday. So, I'm off," I said, shrugging.

"Yes, Madam, why would you need to explain to me? Now go, get lost!" he replied with a touch of sarcasm.

"Bye! And happy Diwali!" I said, waving.

"Bye! By the way, if you don’t mind, you’re welcome to join us for Diwali celebrations at my place. I’ll ask Ma about it," I offered.

"Hmm, do you think your husband would be okay with that?" he asked, barely looking up from his laptop.

"Yes, he’s a nice man. He’ll agree," I replied with a smile and headed home.
