Aurora was running.

Away from her trauma.

Away from her life.

The 15-year-old had managed to get away from the abusive orphanage she had spent most of her life growing up in.

She didn't know how long she was running for or where she was going, she just knew she had to run. Far.

Spotting an alleyway, Aurora moved into it and out of sight from the main street. She slowly backed up to conceal herself before tripping and falling backwards.

Shit.

"Oh fuck that hurt."

She focused her energy on her hand before it illuminated. Aurora was an elemental master, an elemental master of light although she didn't know that was what she was. She just thought she was cursed.

After her eyes adjusted to the new brightness, she stood up and noticed she had tripped over a straw hat. Who throws out a straw hat? She picked it up and -

"Thank you for finding my hat miss." Holy shit.

Aurora extinguished her palm before whipping around, her eyes meant old ones. The man wore a black skull cap and a long white beard, holding a bamboo staff in his right hand.

"This is yours?"

"Yes thank you." The man walked forward, retrieving it from her hands and fixed it on his head. He turned and began to walk away before turning to her and saying, "Aurora, do you know what you are?" What does that mean?

"Umm, how do you know my name?"

"Why do you have your light power?" He ignored her question. Where is this conversation going?

"Because I'm cursed."

"No. Aurora Evans, you are an elemental master." What does that mean?

"Sorry, what?"

"You heard me. I want you to join my team."

Huh. He told me his name was Sensei Wu, and he trained elemental masters to be ninjas who possessed golden weapons to defend them from a bloke called Lord Gardadom.

"So, would you like to come with me?" Aurora thought about it. Maybe it could give her some purpose in life. She would have a home, even a family. She had nothing to lose.

"Ok."

After hours of walking, the pair reached the top of the Mountain of Light. They took their final steps to reach the summit and a cave became visible

"Off you go." Excuse me? But before Aurora could question him she was pushed into the cave.

She landed at the bottom of the cave with a loud thud and a groan. She feebly stood up and looked around. All she saw was light, a lot of light. However, she then noticed a path and decided to follow it.

The cave was beautiful. Crystal stalactites hung from the roof reflecting the light in the prettiest ways. It was peaceful. Then a flapping of wings and a roar could be heard. Then a dragon flew into her view. Well, shit.

The dragon was light blue and had silver highlights. In Aurora's opinion, he was beautiful. But before she could move to calm it, a light beam came out of his mouth and straight toward her. She flipped out of the way, standing in shock.

"Since when could I do a flip?"

She began to approach the dragon slowly and calmly.

"Hey boy, I'm not here to hurt you."

She had no idea what she was doing but it seemed to work. The dragon stopped and tilted his head in confusion. The dragon slowly walked towards her, still sceptical before his forehead met her hand. The dragon nudged it before sniffing her, Aurora laughed at the sudden closeness and scratched his scales.

"I'm gonna call you Apollo."

Apollo moved out of the way, displaying a pedestal with something sitting on top. Aurora climbed the steps to find two golden daggers. They had very detailed hilts and smooth blades. She picked one up and it was very lightweight. She pocketed the daggers and turned to face Apollo.

"Ready to get out of here?"

Apollo roared happily and she climbed on, letting Apollo guide them out of the cave. They flew up, Aurora holding on very tightly yet yelling with happiness. They shot out of the cave, flying straight past Wu and she noticed he had got a teapot from somewhere. Strange.

Apollo flew down to the summit's level and Aurora motioned for Wu to climb on, which he did.

"Well done for retrieving the Golden Daggers of Light, Aurora."

~

"Apollo can stay next to the dark blue dragon."

Wu was talking about the dragon on the far left, he looked like he belonged to a lightning master.

They landed next to Wisp and got off Apollo who went to greet all the other dragons. Aww cute.

Aurora began to feel a little nervous as they climbed the remainder of the Mountain of A Million Steps to the Monastery. The first thing she noticed was the training equipment that filled the space in the courtyard. They made it through the monastery, Wu giving her a tour, before reaching the only door Aurora hadn't seen the other side but laughter could be heard in the closed-off room.

"Aurora, wait here until I've finished updating the ninja," with that, he walked into the dining room.

"Sensei!" A chorus of cheers erupted from behind the door.

"Where did you go?" A female voice asked. This must be the roommate Sensei was telling her about. At least there was another girl, too much testosterone might have ruined her.

"Let me explain," the ninja went quiet, "I have found you four another teammate." The ninjas began asking a ton of questions. Sensei managed to calm them again before one of the boys asked, "Is he an elemental master?"

"Yes, the elemental master of light." Aurora heard a collective gasp, what the freak? Why did they gasp?

"You can come in now." Aurora opened the door and the intense gaze from the six others in the room increased your nerves.

"Hi ... I'm Aurora Evans, nice to meet you all."

"Hey Aurora, my name is Nya." Nya had a neat black bob, with a light tan and dark brown eyes. Aurora sat down next to her and was introduced to the rest of the ninja.

"Hey, I'm Jay, elemental master of lightning." This boy had fair skin, with neat auburn hair and hazel eyes.

"Hi, I'm Cole, elemental master of earth." Cole was quite tanned, with messy black hair and black eyes

"Hello, I am Zane. I am the elemental master of ice." Zane had pale skin, with upright blonde hair and light blue eyes.

"I'm Kai, elemental master of fire." This boy had lightly tanned skin, with spiky brown hair and dark brown eyes.

Nya leans over to her, "he's my brother." Aurora wouldn't have guessed that. Nya's kind and Kai seems a bit like an arse.

The rest of the night was filled with laughs, everyone got to know Aurora and vice versa. However, Aurora could feel two pairs of eyes burning into the sides of her head and knew they were laced with hatred.

'I guess we'll figure out what'll happen in the future.'

(A/N: this is so boring and badly written but you needed an intro for Aurora. Not all chapters are going to have an author note)
