"Hey... I have a doubt. Do you think that girl will like you even after you go with so much hope?" Ram asked doubtfully. Hearing Ram's question, Karthik felt his heart flare up. But still, his mind gave him hope that everything would turn out fine.
"Why wouldn't she like me? Am I lacking something? Don't I have good looks?" Karthik said, pretending to be confident.
"Hey, looks alone won't help. You need some brains and a bit of humanity too." Ram looked at him mockingly.
"I have all of that. Who in this world is as balanced as me?" Karthik said, lifting his shirt collar and putting his hand back on the steering wheel.
"I've seen how balanced you are... Your hobby is to beat up anyone you come across, without caring who they are. If someone asks you for a rupee, you're the stingiest person on Earth..."
"Why are you bringing that up now?" Karthik interrupted Ram as he was speaking.
"I was just pointing out that you don't have that 'good heart' you're talking about.." Ram said, making Karthik glare at him in annoyance.
Seeing that, Ram chuckled. They reached the hospital, and Karthik parked the car. Karthik got out of the car.
"Hey... I'll stay here.." Ram said, looking at him.
"What are you going to do by staying here? Come on!" Karthik insisted. Realizing there was no point arguing, Ram got out of the car without saying anything.
"Hey... there's nothing wrong with how I look, right?" Karthik adjusted his shirt and asked.
"No, What is this...? This is a hospital... What's with the black shirt, white pants, digital watch, and cooling glasses? What's this, man?"
"What? Don't I look stylish?" Karthik asked confidently.
"Oh yeah, very stylish. Now take off those glasses. If you walk into the hospital like that, people will think you're insane.." Ram said, grabbing the glasses from Karthik.
"Hey, give it back! Don't you know I have a weakness for cooling glasses? They give me confidence." Karthik begged, but Ram shook his head, refusing to return them.
"Fine, go eat them if you want... I'm leaving," Karthik said with slight irritation.
Karthik's outfit:
"Yeah, go on... I'll stay here.." Ram said, glancing at his phone.
"You've got nothing to do here. So, you need to come along. We said we'd pick up Manu's report together, remember? So, you need to come with me." Karthik grabbed Ram's hand and pulled him along. They entered the hospital. As soon as they were inside, Karthik let go of Ram's hand. Ram sighed in relief.
"You stay here; I'll go ask about it and come back.." Karthik said, turning to look at him before walking ahead. Ram sat down on a nearby bench. Though Karthik scanned every direction with his eyes, he couldn't spot the person he was looking for, which made him a bit disappointed. Unsure of where to look next, he stood with his hands on his hips, feeling frustrated. It was then that he noticed the elevator doors opening in front of him. His attention shifted to the elevator. Patients, their relatives, and staff were all stepping out. Among them was a doctor. That's when his eyes widened. It was her, the one he had come to see. Her tied-back hair swayed as she walked, and her smile was even more beautiful than the one he had seen the day before. Along with her smile, her eyes sparkled. Karthik kept looking at her without blinking until she disappeared from sight. As she walked away, he suddenly remembered why he was there.
