New year new afternoon..

In the stillness of the empty library, the only sound was the soft rustling of pages as Celian sat alone, absorbed in his book. The afternoon sun filtered through tall windows, casting golden light on the rows of bookshelves. It was peaceful, the perfect escape from the chaos of the academy. But the peace shattered with the echo of approaching footsteps and voices.

Celian’s attention shifted to the door, and his expression tightened as the group entered. Alex, his  fiancé, led the pack, followed by Zenya ( female), Jack, Liam, and finally his step-sister Lyla, the new addition ( all alphas) ..They strode in , their footsteps loud against the silence. Nestled between them, like a delicate flower among thorns, was Elias. They surrounded him as if shielding a fragile treasure.

The moment they saw Celian, the atmosphere grew tense. Each face reflected varying emotions—Alex's gaze was frigid as ever, Elias’s was timid, and Lyla scowled, her disdain evident. The others wore expressions of disdain, their contempt for Celian thinly veiled.

Lyla, a first-year but no less haughty for it, sneered as she broke the silence. “What’s my dear older brother doing here alone? Where’s your dog? You’re usually with her.” Her voice was sharp, dripping with condescension. Being royal like Celian, she could speak to him however she liked, something the others dared not do so openly.

Celian’s jaw clenched, his fingers tightening around the book. “Mind your own business, Lyla,” he said, his voice cold, but the irritation was clear.

“Oh, did I say something wrong?” Lyla chuckled, her tone mock-innocent.

“What are you referring to?” someone from the group asked.

Lyla didn’t hesitate. “Oh, you probably don’t know. But dear brother Celian has a wild bootlicking dog—she’s from second year.”

The words stung more than Celian let show, but he kept his face impassive, unwilling to give her the satisfaction of seeing his irritation.

Elias, spoke up, his voice soft and hesitant. “Lyla, are you talking about Astraea? Don’t say things like that... it’s not good to speak ill of others.”

At the mention of Astraea’s name, Alex’s face became even colder, his features hardening like ice. He stepped forward, his towering frame casting a shadow over Celian as he loomed close.

Celian,” he said in a low, dangerous voice, “is it true what Lyla’s saying?

Celian didn’t flinch, meeting Alex’s gaze head-on.

Why the hell do you care? Mind your business,” he shot back, his voice cutting through the air with equal coldness.

I am your fiancé,” Alex spat,  “I have the right to know who you’re messing with. That Alpha is nothing but trouble. You should know better than to mingle with likes of her.

Celian’s eyes narrowed. His gaze shifted momentarily to Elias— he was standing there under Alex’s protection—before returning to Alex’s.
