The Nexus is not just a source of raw power but a harmonious convergence of opposing forces, creation and destruction, enhancement and nullification.

The Nexus Crystal and Nullithium are manifestations of this delicate balance.

While they appear to be opposite in their nature—one enhancing magic, the other nullifying it—their coexistence is crucial to maintaining the stability of the Nexus itself.

I was reading the text from an old notebook I found by accident while searching for a book on ancient enchanted forests. Instead, I stumbled on an old box tucked away in the corner of Ansel's study.

When I opened it, rolls of parchment lay inside, so brittle that the edges crumbled with every touch. The words were faded, written in a language I barely understood.

My fingers traced the ancient script, my brow furrowing as I tried to decipher the forgotten language.

Among the parchments, buried deep beneath them, was a small brown leather notebook. Its pages, unlike the parchments, were intact—filled with forgotten knowledge, histories, and arcane secrets that had been left to gather dust in the corner.

The Nexus Crystal draws magic from the world, gathering it and amplifying it to near-limitless potential. But if this power were allowed to grow unchecked, it could destabilize everything.

That's where Nullithium comes in: it acts as a counterbalance, regulating the flow of magic and ensuring that the Nexus doesn't implode under the weight of its own power.

Together, they prevent one force from overtaking the other, maintaining a delicate equilibrium that is essential for the survival of both magic and the world itself.

The handwriting in the notebook was in neat cursive, though broken up into scattered paragraphs, as if someone had been trying to translate the ancient parchments.

It was clear that whoever wrote this had been working to piece together the forgotten knowledge.

The Nexus is not just a source of magical energy, but a reflection of the fundamental dualities that govern all life—light and dark, creation and destruction, magic and nullification.

It mirrors the natural order of the world, where opposing forces must exist in harmony for balance to be achieved.

As I skimmed over the text, my eyes caught a passage about the destruction of the Nexus centuries ago:

When the forbidden was breached, the Nexus shattered. Its power was not lost, but hidden. The crystals that fueled the magic now sleep in the silence between worlds, where neither dark nor light can reach.

Just like the text described, the Nexus seemed to be truly hidden. Neither Genesis nor Ansel had found anything in the two locations they'd searched.

Genesis had gone to the Grimwood with Karson, Kyler, and Noel. They spent an entire week searching the area, but Genesis hadn't sensed any energy at all. It was as if the Nexus had never been there.

The Howling Pines, though, was a different story. Phoebe had told me that the place was cursed, which was why Ansel didn't send the others there.

That was where the Battle of Guardians had taken place—where elementals and werewolves had fallen, their souls trapped, unable to move on. The goddess had refused to take them back after the crime they had committed.

Now, the cries of those tortured souls echoed through the trees, warning anyone who dared to enter. Those who ventured too far risked becoming one of the lost souls themselves.
