Chapter Twenty Three - Ozymandias

It had been several weeks since Grigory Nictapolus was hired to place the satellites along the Hermitage. During that time, Grigory monitors the computer as he was instructed to do so. As he monitors the satellites, he picks up another anomaly. Grigory quickly zeroes in on the anomaly. But unlike the previous anomalies, this anomaly appeared to pinpoint a location. Without hesitation, Grigory contacts his client. Meanwhile at the undisclosed compound, the mysterious leader of Shadow Fist looks over the data when he gets a call. He answers the phone. 

???: What is it, Mr. Nictapolus?

Grigory(Phone): I picked up another one of those anomalies. 

???: Excellent work, Mr. Nictapolus.

Grigory(Phone): That's not all. I managed to zero in on the signal. It's showing me a location. I'm sending you it now. 

The mysterious man waits as Grigory sends the satellite's data on the anomaly. To his surprise, it shows a location. 

???: Hhm....Kadic Academy. How interesting. 

Grigory(Phone): I dig a little digging on the place. It's some kind of school. It's not far from where I'm at. 

???: This information is an excellent find, Mr. Nictapolus. Continue to monitor the satellites for anomalies. Oh and be on the look out for any....suspicious individuals. 

Grigory(Phone): That's gonna cost extra.

???: That won't be a problem, Mr. Nictapolus. You will get the agreed payment and more once your services are no longer needed. In the meantime, I trust you'll continue your job. 

Grigory(Phone): Whatever. I'll keep you posted. 

With that, the call ends. As the call ended, the man begins pulling up any information on Kadic Academy. During his search in the database, he learns that one of it's former employees was Franz Hopper. The man smiled as he deduced his true identity. 

???: A teacher, eh? So that's how you've been hiding, Waldo. After all these years....

At this point, the man sees Kadic Academy as a potential lead into the whereabouts of the Supercomputer. The man then calls Agent Fenrir. 

Fenrir: What did you need, sir?

???: Mr. Nictapolus uncovered a promising lead on the Supercomputer. He detected an anomaly that point to a specific location: Kadic Academy. I believe Kadic holds vital information on the Supercomputer. Dr. Schaeffer worked as a teacher. Your assignment is to infiltrate the Academy and uncover anything you can on the location of the Supercomputer as well as anyone who could be involved in these recent events. I have arranged for you to be enrolled as a student. 

Fenrir: What are the mission parameters?

???: Discretion is of the upmost importance. Once you've been enrolled at Kadic Academy, maintain your cover as a student. 

Fenrir: There's a good chance that the kids we encountered on Lyoko might be enrolled at this school. They may have information on the Supercomputer's location. 

???: Agreed. But they also are aware of Shadow Fist's operations into Lyoko. I advise caution. Befriend them, but do not compromise your mission. They are only one half of the puzzle. The other half is XANA itself and it's only a matter of time until XANA makes his move.

At this point, Fenrir quickly realizes that his infiltration of Kadic Academy might have the potential to expose his cover due to his prior encounters with the Lyoko Warriors. 

Fenrir: What if Shadow Fist encounters the kids during my infiltration? I've had enough encounters with them to recognize me. Some of them don't seem too sharp, but the sharp ones will quickly notice my absence. 

???: I have taken that into account, Agent Fenrir. That is why I have created a digital unit that will act as your doppelganger. Ideally, Shadow Fist will be far from any sort of conflict between the children and XANA. 

Fenrir: But when XANA's out of commission, they'll try to dig up anything on Shadow Fist's imprint on Lyoko. 

???: Hence why the doppelganger will be activated the moment the children come into contact with any Shadow Fist operatives. The virtual doppelganger is a near identical match skill wise and personality wise. I will also have Mr. Nictapolus monitor any activity within the Hermitage. Something tells me that the children are connected to it as well. 

As Fenrir prepares for his assignment, the man speaks up. 

???: You are my finest agent, Agent Fenrir. Shadow Fist is proud to have a dedicated agent like yourself working on Project Necromancer. I know you will achieve marvelous results. The work we will accomplish will change everything. And when history takes note of the work we've done today, all will know that this moment was the moment where mankind ascended to heights not seen in it's entire lifetime. 

Fenrir: It will be done, sir. 

With that, Fenrir leaves his superior's office to prepare for his mission on infiltrating Kadic Academy. As he was left alone, the man ponders on all that has happened. He could quickly see that everything was falling into place. 

???: I met a traveler from an antique land who said: two vast and trunkless legs of stone stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand, half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown, and wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, tell that its sculptor well those passions read which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, the hand that mocked them and the heart that fed: and on the pedestal these words appear: "My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!" No thing beside remains. Round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare the lone and level sands stretch far away.

In that moment, the man saw an opportunity to expand Shadow Fist and the work it sought to do. And that would set in motion events that would lead to a collision course.
