Hours later, at the hospital, Y/n's parents burst through the doors, having cut their trip short the moment they got the news. Their faces were a mix of panic and desperation as they rushed to the reception desk.

Mr. L/n: (urgently) "We're looking for our son, Y/n L/n."

The nurse, calm but empathetic, typed rapidly on her computer, searching through the records. After a moment, she looked up at them.

Nurse: "He's currently in surgery, sir."

Mrs. L/n: (her voice shaking with panic) "Do you know what his condition is?"

The nurse offered a sympathetic look, but shook her head.

Nurse: "I'm afraid I don't have any further information at this time, ma'am. The doctors will update you as soon as they can."

Just as Mrs. L/n's knees threatened to give out from the overwhelming fear, they heard a familiar voice calling out.

Tessa: (her voice breaking) "Mr. and Mrs. L/n!"

Y/n's parents turned to see Tessa running toward them, her face pale and tear-streaked, followed closely by the drones. N and Jay looked equally somber, while V and Cyn hovered nearby, their usual animated behavior replaced with quiet concern. Tessa threw herself into Mrs. L/n's arms, shaking with sobs.

Tessa: (through tears) "I'm so sorry. I should've been with him—"

Mrs. L/n: (hugging her tightly) "It's okay, Tessa. We're here. He's strong, he'll pull through."

Mr. L/n put a reassuring hand on Tessa's shoulder, but his own worry was evident as he looked at his wife, then at the drones. His voice cracked slightly when he spoke.

Mr. L/n: "Did they tell you what happened?"

Tessa pulled back, wiping her eyes as she tried to compose herself.

Tessa: (sniffling) "They said... It was a malfunction. A drone... it lost control of a truck and crashed into Y/n's car."

Mrs. L/n gasped softly, covering her mouth as her eyes filled with tears. The idea of a malfunctioning drone—a piece of technology meant to protect and assist—was almost too much to bear.

Mrs. L/n: (whispering, her voice breaking) "How could this happen? How...?"

N, standing beside Tessa, spoke up gently, his usual humor absent, replaced with concern.

N: "We're not sure, Mrs. L/n. But we'll figure it out. I promise."

Jay crossed his arms, his usual sarcasm replaced with a determined expression.

Jay: "This wasn't just an accident. Somebody screwed up. When I get my hands on the people who programmed that drone I'll– "

V: That's not gonna help Y/n, Jay. All we can do is hope he will be ok.

Mr. L/n gave them all a grateful nod, though his face remained etched with worry. He turned to look back toward the hallway leading to surgery, his heart heavy.

Mr. L/n: "We need him to be okay."

The group sat together in the waiting room, an unspoken bond of shared fear and hope keeping them close. The minutes felt like hours as they waited for news, every small sound or movement making them all tense up in anticipation.

As they sat there, Tessa kept glancing at Cyn, who had been oddly quiet. Her usual upbeat personality was subdued, and Tessa couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Something about the crash didn't sit right with her, and it wasn't just the malfunction. She caught Cyn's eye for a moment, but the drone quickly looked away, almost... guiltily.
