The Siblings Return

Plot: Desti returns with a permanent guest in tow, but aside from a not so celebratory return, there's something else she needs to reveal as well...

(May 17th - 2024)

The streets of Belmont were relatively quiet, nothing much but someone mowing their lawn or out for a walk. Barely any cars went past, giving free passage for a passing bus towards it's next stop.

Sitting near the front of said bus was Desti, eyes glazing out the window at the passing scenery. This was home...even more now than ever.

She looked away from the window to the figure cuddled into her side: Lily.

The girl had fallen asleep after a series of connections needed to get on this bus, exhaustion catching up with her as she rested her head on Desti's shoulder, nuzzling in like a cat.

On occasion, Desti would rub her back or stroke her silvery platinum hair, just taking her in. 12 years...and she could finally breathe.

She'd slept better than she had in over a decade and it was all because of Lily. Having her back, being able to watch her grow and just...live. It felt like a dream.

She was perfect. Absolutely perfect...

Seeing a familiar bus stop out of the corner of her eye, she reluctantly moved to wake Lily up, even though she gladly would've carried her.

Desti: Lily...cmon, time to get up.

Lily: Mmm...five more minutes...

Desti: Cmon sis, don't you wanna see your new home?

Lily reluctantly opened her eyes and rubbed them, getting her bearings back. Stretching her shoulders and cracking her back, They both stood up as the bus reached its stop.

Desti gave the driver the money for the trip and looked to Lily as they walked off, taking her hand.

Desti: Now I'm just gonna warn you Lily, my friends can be a bit excitable to prepare for-

The second she turned her head as they got off the bus, she froze.

Where was everyone? Meggy's house was literally a few feet down the road, as was Bob's hotel. When Meggy came back from her vacation, she practically got a standing ovation.

Granted, Desti didn't want that, but she expected it when she texted Meggy she was coming back. Did something happen? Unlikely since the kingdom wasn't destroyed.

Lily: Des? Is something wrong?

Blinking to regain her focus, she became aware of Lily at her side.

Desti: Uh, nothing Lily, I just...thought my friends would be here.

Lily: Where do you think they are?

Desti: Well, if it's my best guess, I'd say at 4's castle or Mario did something stupid. It's fine, we can check on them later. Why don't I get you settled in first?

Lily smiled as Desti lead the way down the street. She gave a brief glance to Meggy's house, but all the lights seemed off. They must be at the movies or something...

They then walked past Bob's hotel, which had Lily in awe trying to look up. She'd informed her beforehand Bob had this but it was still a shock.

The confusing part is why was it closed? The sign said it was for "Emotional Distress". Knowing Bob, that just meant his dealer ran out of weed.

As they walked further down the street to Desti's house, Desti felt Lily's hand searching for her own. With a smile, she found it back and took it as they walked, noticing the big smile on Lily's face.
