George wound up in pain again.
Marty helped George to his chair and stated, "Don't worry, dad. We'll get to the bottom of this."
George asked, "Who...? Who could've done this to me?"
Marty questioned, "Who stands to lose if those tapes get out?"
George answered, "Everybody who's bad mouthed Citizen Brown when they didn't know there was a camera on them. But that's over half the town."
Marty reasoned, "I think that this was a lone agent."
George groaned, "Oh, it's no use! The tapes are gone. All I can do is hope against hope they don't surface and land me in trouble."
Marty insisted, "C'mon, dad. We can't just give up. Let's get out there and start shakin' people down. We can make them talk."
George frowned, "And before we know it, the authorities would get involved and we'd both be in trouble. No thanks."
Marty stated, "There's gotta be something we can do to get our hands on those tapes."
George offered, "Well, we could make new ones."
"We can?" Marty asked.
"Sure. It may take awhile but if you're willing to help your old man out, it shouldn't take us more than say six months." George explained.
Marty repeated, "Six months? But I need those tapes now!"
George perked up, "You need the tapes?"
Marty stammered before he finally told the truth, "I gotta give them to Citizen Brown." George shook his head as Marty added, "I told him I was gonna furnish him with proof that Hill Valley isn't as perfect as he thinks it is. I was in his office earlier just before I came here."
George asked, "But why were you in his office?"
Marty answered, "I had to break a ton of rules...to get an interview with him." He brought the demerits in his pocket and showed them to his father. He added, "Read them and weep."
"B - but I don't understand..." The matriarch stammered.
"It was the only way to talk to him. You and I both know things aren't right here. Citizen Brown might've started with good intentions, but his Hill Valley just made everyone miserable." The youngest McFly pointed out.
George shushed him, "You said that to him?"
Marty confirmed, "Basically, yeah."
George moaned, "Oh, there go our privileges..."
Marty replied, "No wait. I got him to listen, dad. And he's going to make things right for everyone. I can't explain how...you're just going to trust me on this."
George said, "Okay...?"
Marty responded, "But first, I have to show him your tapes to prove my point."
George refused, "This scheme of yours. Maybe you know what you are doing, I can't say, but leave me out of it. I don't like trouble. I don't like..."
Marty repeated, "Confrontation." He told George, "Then do it for your father, Arthur McFly."
George said, "I know his name."
Marty asked, "Didn't have somethin' to do with putting Kid Tannen away back in the day?"
George answered, "Yes...yes...where did you hear about that? It was long before Citizen Brown cleaned up the town before I was even born. Everyone lived in terror of Kid Tannen and his goons! But dad stood up to him. He had evidence of Kid's guilt, see...and he risked his life to deliver it to authorities. 'Never be afraid to do the right thing'. That's what he always told me."
George turned to the monitors and started typing on them.
Marty asked, "What are you doing?"
George answered, "Trying to remember which is the right feed..."
"Feed to what?" He asked.
"To the surveillance camera. The one in the yard." George explained.
Marty was surprised, "Wait a minute, you have a surveillance camera trained on yourself?"
George confirmed, "Of course, gotta cover all bases! Now help me figure out which monitor I'm on."
Marty helped him find the feed, "Let me get this straight. You captured this whole attack on tape?"
George confirmed, "Of course! Surveillance is what I do!"
They started to watch the feed after popping in the tape. They saw that Biff Tannen came up with the aluminum bat. George was confused as he knew that Biff had already had the Citizen Plus program.
Marty perked up, "Hey, what's that flashing on his wrist?"
George looked, "Let's find out! I know this zoom-and-enhance feature would come in handy someday. Cost me a bundle at the hobby shop."
Marty stated, "It's his digital watch! I wonder why it's doing that? Stop the picture." George did what he was told and he asked, "Can you zoom in anymore?" George zoomed in more and the watch read X-11. "X-11?" He questioned.
"You know what that means?" George answered.
Marty admitted, "Not yet."
Marty grabbed a print out of the number as Lorraine came up to them. The two of them started to argue as Marty saw his chance to leave. So that's what he did.
...
Marty got back to the town square and saw Biff at his table, cleaning the sign. He was furious as he walked up to the older man.
"Biff!" He huffed.
"Whoa! Settle down there, fella." Biff instructed, a bit baffled.
Marty accused, "You beat up my dad!"
Biff was confused. That's when Officer Baines came up.
Robert asked, "Do we have a problem here, citizens?"
Biff insisted, "No, no. Just a little misunderstanding. I'm sure we can work it out. Right, Martin?"
Marty agreed coldly, "Right."
Robert nodded and went on his way.
Biff stated, "Now, let's see if we can get to the bottom of this."
Marty replied, "Yeah, let's. Why'd you hurt my dad, Biff? He never did anything to you in er recently."
Biff was so confused, "What are you talking about?"
Marty responded, "Don't play dumb. I saw you on camera!"
Biff pointed out, "But...I can't hurt anyone. Thanks to Citizen Plus, I blow chunks whenever I think about doing bad stuff." At that moment, Biff threw up on the ground. He groaned, "See?"
Marty asked, "If you didn't beat up my dad, then where've you been for the last couple of hours?"
Biff started to answer, "Well, I was... I was..." He thought for a moment but nothing was coming to him. He added, "That's strange... I don't remember..."
