Marty asked, "Doc?"
That's when Citizen Brown let out a good old fashioned scream at the top of his lungs. He was tired, he felt defeated, and he felt awful. He fell to his knees, weeping. Why did this have to happen? He felt so guilty about everything that has happened.
"Son of a bitch, he stole my idea! He must've been listening in when..."
Citizen Brown was sobbing still. Why was he having these random memories pop up like this? Was Martin actually telling the truth? No, it couldn't be possible. Marty walked over to him, leaning over him comfortingly.
Citizen Brown wept, "Father... Estelle... I'm so sorry... What have I done...?"
Marty rubbed his back, "Don't be so hard on yourself. This Hill Valley may be a little messed up...okay very messed up but you were just trying to help people."
Citizen Brown asked, weeping, "Or I was just entranced by the challenge of transforming the human psyche like so many chemicals?"
Marty answered softly, "I'm sorry about Edna though. I wasn't expecting her to be like this. She didn't seem so bad back in 1931."
Citizen Brown sniffled, "No, she wasn't. When we were first dating she was so spirited, principled, compassionate. When did I lose her?"
Marty admitted, "I don't know. But I know your father and Estelle would not have blamed you for all of this. Remember Estelle thought there was something wrong."
Citizen Brown told him, "My father was so happy when I gave up my 'childish' dreams in favor of more 'practical' dreams Edna had." He looked up, "Are you proud of me now, father?" That's when he got off the ground, "Enough wallowing, what's done is done. It's time to look forward."
He placed his hand on Marty's shoulder just then.
Marty replied, "Maybe...or maybe not."
Citizen Brown turned to him, "What?"
Marty brought out the notebook, "Your notebook, from the other timeline."
Citizen Brown huffed, "Not this foolishness again."
Marty gave it to him, "Look! You can use it to repair the time machine, and fix all this so that it never happened! Everyone can be back they are supposed to be... Annie, My parents, Uncle Robert, you, Edna...everyone Doc. You once told us - if you put your mind to it..."
"You can accomplish anything..." Citizen Brown whispered.
Marty barely smiled, "That's right and I still don't know how that's happening."
Citizen Brown looked over the journal and admitted, "There's a lot of empty pages."
Marty stated, "The only one you need is right here..."
That's when he pointed to the first drawing that started it all: the flux capacitor. That's when Citizen Brown noticed that the flux capacitor was the exact same emblem everywhere.
He muttered, "Great Scott..."
Marty replied with a smile, "I know, this is heavy."
Citizen Brown started to look it over, "Martin, this... This could work! It'll take time of course but once it's done we'll have all of the time in the world!"
That's when he laughed happily. Marty had noticed that Einstein was in a cage. Well, at least he wasn't on his way to Utah.
Marty asked, "Can we bring Einy along?"
Citizen Brown answered, "The dog? Yes, of course! Y'know, I used to love dogs before Edna came along."
Marty teased, "You don't say."
Citizen Brown laughed as he got a head start on Marty. Marty was just about to let Einstein free until he started growling. Marty didn't notice that Biff was slowly coming to. Biff towered over him, furious.
"McFly..." He said.
Marty uneasy asked, "Hey, Biff. You okay?"
Biff answered, "Yeah, I'm okay. Better than I've been for a long time, y'know?"
Marty started to ask, "So you remember...?"
Biff confirmed, "That witch makin' me do stuff? Yeah. She'll get what's coming to her. No one tells Biff Tannen what to do..."
Marty paled, "Uh oh..."
Biff went to attack Marty and the teen threw records at him, going over to Einstein's cage. Marty let Einstein free as Biff tapped on Marty's back. Marty ducked him again, throwing more records at Biff.
"Einstein, sick him boy!" Marty commanded.
Einstein growled at Biff, forcing him over to an old crap table from 1931. Marty hit the panic button as the table hit Biff right on the head. Biff went down for the count after that.
Marty turned to the dog, "Let's get out of here, Einy."
Einstein barked in agreement, following the teenager.
...
Marty barged into Citizen Brown's office and started to say, "Doc! Sorry I took so long. Biff came around and jumped me. I totally laid him out with the old roul..."
That's when Edna turned the chair around to Marty, "Martin McFly."
Marty paled, "Edna?"
Edna stated, "It's almost impressive - how many years of work and planning you nearly ruined in just a few short hours."
Marty was confused, "Where's Doc?"
Edna chuckled, "Oh, 'Doc', my husband is in a better place."
Marty did a double take, "Better place? What have you done with him?!"
Edna replied, "Relax, Martin..." That's when two police officers came up from behind Marty. She added, "We've got everything under control."
The feed changed to Citizen Plus, where Citizen Brown was being held captive.
Marty tried to fight off the officers, furious, "No! No! Doc!"
But it was of no use, Marty was dragged off and Edna was smirking at the feed.
