America - October 2024
"What a crazy weekend." Carlos laughed as they were waving to the last fans from their car before it drove onto the airport area.
"Birthday, a win, a 1-2 for the team, it's the best we could get." Charles laughed before he turned his head from the window over to his teammate.
"Right, I nearly forgot that it was your birthday this week." the Spaniard said before he gave the other man a friendly punch, "But you didn't invite me for dinner so there's nothing to remember for me."
"Are you offended?" Charles laughed, throwing his head back against the headrest of the car, "Come on, you knew I had friends here, who were there to celebrate with me."
"And I'm not your friend?" Carlos pouted sarcastically before he also started laughing.
"Yeah well you are... a special friend." the Monegasque said as he turned his head over to his teammate.
"Not sure if that's a good thing or not." the Spaniard laughed before he opened the car door and jumped out.
As Charles followed him, walking around the car he so how Carlos was stretching himself, his shirt riding up a little, revealing his tanned abs.
"Jealous?" the older one then chuckled, catching Charles by surprise, who quickly shook his head and looked up.
"W... What?"
"Oh you know." Carlos laughed before he grabbed his backpack from the backseat, "I caught you starring."
With that he winked and grinned at Charles before he walked over to the plane, leaving the younger one behind, who's cheeks turned bright red. He starred down on the spot where Carlos had been standing the moment before, asking himself how embarrassing one can get.
"Carlos wait, we need to make a picture fro the sponsor!" Caco's voice got Charles back to reality, the Spaniard also flying with them over to Mexico.
Quickly the Monegasque brushed through his hair before he followed them over to their private plane. Carlos was still grinning at him, a teasing smirk on his face while he positioned himself for the picture.
Charles only turned quickly as he reached the other driver, looking at Caco, who held the phone up.
"That's perfect, thanks boys." he then said and the exact moment Charles started walking off.
He wanted to quick board the plane, to find the most hidden seats so he could cry in silent after his embarrassing starring. It wasn't the first time that he did that, or that Carlos did something like that.
They loved teasing each other, laughing together, simply having fun, but something has changed. And it wasn't something that would change again, it would never change again as time was running away.
Only five more races and then would his teammate be gone. Well not fully gone, but he wouldn't be his teammate anymore and Charles knew, no matter how nice Lewis would be, it would never be the same, would never be as good as now.
Carlos was nearly family for him, haven spent these last years together almost every weekend. All the shared podiums, all the 1-2 they had, like yesterday. It had been an amazing week, an amazing Sunday and crossing the finish line just summed it up.
But it also meant one race less that they had together. At the start of the season, where knew had already been out, it wasn't much of a concern for Charles, eve joking about it. When Carlos had given him that red stuffed chili animal, they had laughed about it.
