The boardroom was a sea of familiar faces, but today, Lexi sat at the head of the table. She was the sole owner of Thompson Industries now, and the weight of it settled heavy on her shoulders. Her uncle had stepped down, leaving her in control, and she was determined to prove herself.

As the meeting drew to a close, Lexi felt a sense of pride. She'd held her own, made the tough decisions. She was ready for this.

But as she stood, gathering her things, a prickling sensation ran down her spine. On the corner of the table, a plain white envelope sat addressed to her. Her name, in neat block letters, was the only marking.

Curiosity piqued, Lexi tore it open, pulling out a single sheet of paper. The message, typed and brief, made her blood run cold.

"Mr. Montgomery is not who he seems. Be careful. I have information about your parents."

Lexi's heart raced as she glanced around the room, but no one seemed to be paying her any mind. Who could have written this? And how did they know about her parents?

She tried to brush it off as a sick prank, but the words echoed in her mind. Was it possible? Could Reg be hiding something?

As she looked at him, at the charming smile and the possessive way he held her hand, a shiver ran down her spine. She pushed the doubt aside, focusing on the day ahead. But the seed of unease had been planted.

As the day wore on, Lexi found herself glancing over her shoulder, expecting to see some shadowy figure following her. She tried to focus on work, but her mind kept circling back to the letter.

Who was behind it? And what did they want from her?

As the sun set, Lexi felt a growing sense of unease. Something felt off, and she couldn't shake the feeling that her world was about to tilt on its axis.

And as she looked at Reg, at the man she was supposed to marry, she wondered if she'd made a terrible mistake. If the man she trusted was actually a stranger.

The letter had sparked a seed of doubt, and now, Lexi couldn't help but water it. She had questions, and she was determined to find the answers.

Because as she stared at the cryptic message, crumpled in her hand, she realized one thing - she couldn't ignore this. Not when her life might depend on it.
