Aarav sat in his room, packing his bag for the trip that was supposed to give him the freedom he craved. The open road was calling, the mountains waiting, but for the first time in a long time, he felt uncertain. Normally, he thrived on the anticipation of leaving—of setting out on a new adventure with nothing but his own thoughts to keep him company. But this time, it was different.
He had seen the look on Sana’s face during their last conversation, the way her eyes had clouded with something he couldn’t quite place. It had unsettled him, made him wonder if maybe he was missing something important.
Sana had always been his constant, the one person he could count on to be there when he returned. She never asked him to stay, never made him feel guilty for leaving. But as he packed his things, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he had been taking her for granted.
Aarav tossed a jacket into his bag and sat down on the edge of his bed, running a hand through his hair. What was he doing? Why did he always feel the need to leave? He told himself it was because he wanted adventure, to see the world, to live life on his terms. But was that really the truth? Or was he running away from something—something he couldn’t face?
He thought about Riverton, about the life he had here. It wasn’t much, but it was home. His friends were here, people who cared about him, and yet he was always looking for an escape. And now, as he prepared to leave once again, he was starting to wonder if he was leaving behind more than he realized.
