After a few days in Rome, the girls headed south to the Amalfi Coast, with its stunning cliffs, turquoise waters, and winding seaside roads. It was here, among Italy’s breathtaking landscapes, that Sana’s life took an unexpected turn.
One evening, Sana and Leela found themselves at a beachside bonfire, surrounded by travelers and locals alike. The air was filled with laughter, music, and the smell of salt and smoke. People passed around guitars and sang songs in different languages, creating an atmosphere that felt both intimate and boundless.
It was then that Sana noticed him—a tall man with dark hair and an easy smile, standing by the fire, talking to Luca. There was something magnetic about him, a quiet confidence that immediately caught her attention. As if sensing her gaze, he looked over and their eyes met.
Sana felt her cheeks warm, and she looked away, surprised by the intensity of her reaction. She wasn’t here for romance. She had come on this journey to find herself, to heal and grow. But as she glanced back at him, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something significant was about to unfold.
Luca noticed the two making eye contact and grinned, calling the man over. “Sana, Leela, meet Alessandro. He’s an old friend, a local, and quite possibly the best chef in all of Italy.”
Alessandro laughed, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Luca exaggerates, but I appreciate the compliment.” He turned to Sana, offering his hand. “Pleasure to meet you.”
The warmth of his hand against hers sent a thrill through her. “Likewise,” she replied, trying to keep her voice steady.
They spent the evening talking, sharing stories under the stars. Alessandro was charming and funny, with a way of making her feel as though she was the only person in the world. His passion for his homeland, his family, and his dreams was evident, and Sana found herself captivated by his warmth and sincerity.
As the night grew late, he invited her for a walk along the shore. They strolled in comfortable silence, the waves lapping at their feet, and for the first time in a long while, Sana felt something blossom within her—something she hadn’t anticipated.
