I smooth down my dress a bit, staring at myself in the little mirror in my room.
Overdress or underdress?
That was the question of the night. Which would I be more comfortable with potentially doing. I settled for overdress, because under dressing in a nice location feels much more embarrassing then over dressing in a casual one.
The dress wasn't super fancy, falling loosely over my legs, ending just above my knees. It could pass as a sundress, or an event dress.
The bright red color gave off confidence, though I was lacking that at the moment. I pushed the thought down and slipped on some white sneakers, opting for comfortable over looks for this part.
I adjusted my hair once more, the natural waves of my hair much more prominent now with some good products and a little heat.
My makeup consisted of the basics; mascara, blush, and the occasional concealer where I thought I needed it. Makeup was never my strong suit, and attempting anything else would resort in me looking like a clown.
Overall, I was happy with how I looked. I thought I looked pretty, and whether I'm over dressed or not seems not to matter anymore.
Right on time, a knock comes from my door. I smile, sparing myself one last glance, before turning towards the door of my room. I grab my handbag on the way, before pulling it open.
I'm met with Johnny, not that I expected less, and his goofy grin I can't help but love. His eyes meet mine for half a second before his gaze is pulled to the rest of me.
He takes his time looking me over, making me shift slightly as my face gets a little hotter. "Wow," he breathes, finally pulling his gaze back to mine.
"You look amazing, Doll."
I smile, blushing a bit harder and thank him. He smirks back down at me, before offering an arm and leading the way to the vehicles for tonight.
The others are arriving just as we are, spreading greetings and piling into cars. As we get closer, I spot my dad leaning against the wall, his eye catching mine. "I'll be back," I tell Johnny, then jog to him.
"Hi daddy," I greet, melting into his hug as his arm wraps around me, his other holding the cigar away to avoid me breathing it in.
"Hi, sweetheart. You look wonderful." I grin up at him, pulling away and giving him a twirl. He laughs softly, and when our eyes meet again, I don't miss the look of pride and happiness in his gaze.
"Be safe, okay? Stay with Soap."
"Promise," I say back. He ruffles my hair softly, before nudging me back towards the others. "Have fun, sweetheart."
"Thank you!" I call behind me, waving as I head back towards Johnny. "Ready?" He asks, and I nod, letting him lead the way to our ride.
As we reach the car, I slide in after Johnny, shutting the door and taking the short ride to the nearby town.
It isn't long before we are hopping back out, and following the others inside. I'm surprised by the turn out, honestly. About 20 guys from base flood the bar, separating into their friend groups between three different tables.
Johnny slides into a seat beside Gaz, and I sit on his other side. My dad and Ghost stayed back, no surprise there.
Alejandro and Rudy take a seat across from us, a few others filling in the table that I'm not too familiar with.
