Sanemi's face turned an immediate shade of red as he laid eyes on her. His heart raced, and he could barely tear his gaze away. "God, this woman... she's going to kill me with that look." He thought, his mind racing as his eyes followed her every move.
Tengen, who had been staring just as much, couldn't help but whistle. "Damn, Tomioka's really stepping up her game tonight. She looks amazing!"
Sanemi, still blushing but trying to play it cool, growled under his breath, "Shut up, Uzui. She's just... dressed up. That's all."
But deep down, he knew it wasn't just the outfit. There was something about Giyuu that always caught him off guard. Whether it was her calm demeanor or the way she could silence a room with her presence, she never failed to surprise him. And tonight was no exception.
As Giyuu approached the group, she gave a small, polite smile. "Sorry I'm late."
"No worries, Tomioka," Kyojuro said with his usual bright tone. "Glad you made it!"
Iguro, despite his earlier complaints, gave her a quick nod. "Well, better late than never."
Tengen, ever the charmer, grinned and leaned toward her. "You know, Tomioka, you should wear red more often. Suits you."
Giyuu blinked, looking slightly flustered but remained composed. "Uh, thanks," she said, not quite used to receiving compliments about her appearance.
Sanemi, on the other hand, couldn't find the words. He was still processing how she'd gone from "PE teacher in a tracksuit" to this effortlessly stunning woman in front of him. He couldn't stop thinking about how different she looked tonight. "She's always been pretty, but tonight... she's on another level."
As the night went on, Sanemi found it harder and harder to keep his eyes off her. Every time she laughed or smiled at something one of the others said, he felt a strange mix of jealousy and admiration. "What the hell is wrong with me? he thought, frustrated with himself."
Tengen, sensing the shift in Sanemi's mood, couldn't resist teasing him. "Hey, Shinazugawa, you okay? You've been staring at Tomioka all night."
Sanemi nearly choked on his drink. "What? I haven't been staring!"
As Giyuu heard Tengen's teasing, she glanced over at Sanemi, her face flushing slightly. Their eyes met for a fleeting moment before she quickly looked away, her heart racing. Sanemi felt his pulse quicken, noticing how shy she seemed in that brief exchange.
Time passed as the group drank and chatted. Tengen was, as usual, surrounded by a small group of women, effortlessly drawing their attention and flirting away. Meanwhile, Kanae, fully drunk and swaying in her seat, suddenly pulled Giyuu by the arm.
"Let's go dance, Giyuu!" Kanae insisted, her speech slightly slurred.
"No, I don't know how to dance," Giyuu protested, shaking her head.
"Come on! Tengen, Kyojuro, come too!" Kanae called out, dragging them into the dancing crowd.
They all joined in, dancing and enjoying themselves—everyone except for one. Obanai sat quietly, watching from the sidelines.
"I'm leaving," Obanai muttered to Sanemi, getting up.
"What? Why?" Sanemi asked, surprised.
"I think I'm starting to enjoy this, and that's a problem. Plus, I'm drunk," Obanai said bluntly before turning to leave. "Tell the others I left."
